I'll sing the praises of Gap jeans forever. (sign up for their mailing list, they send out 20-30% off coupons all the time)

I hate Levi's, though, so feel free to discount my opinion... the idea that I need to "wear-in" my jeans for weeks before they become remotely comfortable bothers me. off the shelf, I find Levi's to be really stiff and uncomfortable. maybe they're magic after a few weeks of regular wear, but I've never managed to get past the discomfort stage to reach that point.

Levi's are great. i grew up wearing Levi's 501's. They were always dirt cheap for some reason.

now i get whatever is on sale at Farm&fleet. The house brand is made in the US and last a long time. Also about the only time i wear them is if i'm out working so i don't care if they get ruined (but it does take a lot to ruin them)

I'm a cheap bastard too.
All I ever buy is Wranglers.
$15-$20 pr. @ Wal-Mart.
Fit good, look good (according to the wife), and I get ~2-3 years wear out of them. (New jeans get worn casually, once they get stained or dingy/frayed, I use them for work pants.)

I am a cheap bastard. I get whatever they have on sale at Walmart/Kmart/Target.
I used to wear only 501s but I've always worked outdoors, around equipment, snow, mud, etc and those are too expensive to be ruining.
Now that I work mostly indoors I may have to revisit it.

Old cheap dirty bastard you are.

I like Levi's 505 straight. Skinny jeans are a fad that needs to die.

Try Levi's 511s for your body type.

If you try some on, make sure to try both the stretchy and non-stretchy denim, they feel different.

YMMV with ball room.

Find a dept store that sells Levis -

They usually carry about 5-7 styles, pick your waist & length in each and see what fits you best.

$38 - $45 on average for a pair when they are on sale.

I'm partial to 505's.

I will get back to you on this but I am trying out All American Clothing's line of carpenter jeans. There's also Union Line and Diamond Gusset.

Levi's is fine and they have a proven track record but I'm not a fan of them.

designer jeans all the way here, they cost substantially more than Levi's and tend to not last nearly as long. But they're so much more comfortable. More ball room, with much softer feeling denim. The process that causes that makes their durability go down a lot, but totally worth it imho. I have on some Coogi jeans right now that are so soft it almost feel like I'm wearing sweat pants. You can find good design jeans on sale for less than $100 if you poke around. I generally only spend about $80 on mine. All Levi's, Lee's, [insert Target'ish brand] are stiff and just hard for me to wear. And even their so called relax/lose fit models are a damn joke when it comes to scrotal room and overall comfort.

go to a shop that has lots of pairs, maybe Levis, and try them on until you find something.
If you get something with a low enough rise and a stretchy fabric maybe that will work for you.
Or maybe you just hate jeans, have you considered this?

Got some Lucky's at Costco for $40. Nice relaxed fit with room for my junk. Also have some banana republic jeans which are better for the night life.
