Someone asked me to make a mix CD for them; joy, I have to pull 6 CDs off the shelf and rip from them so I'm not maiming whatever songs it is I'm giving them. These also happen to be songs I can pick out compression artifacts in. Screw it, in the land of .5TB, a 30 MB audio file is nothing, viva lossless!
Lossless does have its place, but for me with my 80GB hdd and the fact that my Zen Touch only plays with WMA, WAV, or MP3, I'll stick with my VBR "0" MP3s.
-V 0 used to cut it for me, but lately I'm listening to alot more Arabic music, and it tends to have alot more high frequency sounds that just get pwnt with MP3. I l:heart:ve my iPod, plays Apple Lossless, and I can use EAC to rip to Apple Lossless now. And I think your Zen should be able to play WMA Lossless.
Idk if it can play WMA lossless, and even if it could, I don't think I'd notice much of a difference than what I have atm. Also, I have been in the process of ripping cds to -V 0 (b/c they were at 128/192 before) so I wouldn't really be enthusiastic about chaning formats now. I do hear a difference between the actual cds and my MP3s, but I don't feel that it is large enough to warrant the extra work of ripping cds over again.
