It is back up in Vancouver, WA now. I just go the phone call to reboot and grab a new IP. The freekin' biznitches capped everyone at 1.5Mb now. Before you flame, I know it could be worse....a lot worse...but when you are used to 3.5Mb it sucks. They could at least have bumped the upstream to 256Kb. I didn't have to change anything on my mail here. Looks like the mail servers are still "mail" in and "mail" out. I am actually only getting 700 to 800 Kbps down now.

Thats because ATT refused to pay a higher price. @home shot its self in the foot for giving the cable companies cheap broadband access. But the Cable companies have sorta shot themselves in the foot to the consumers because their customers will be out of internet for days, weeks, possibly months(in the case of Comcast).

Im glad I went with a company that has their own private network. And those complaining about caps, get used to it. Without @home's cheap broadband, all these companies that have or will have their own private cable network will have down caps around 1 to 1.5mbps.

Speed continues to be consistent at 1474/974. Haven't had a problem all day, knock on wood. It seems like we Comcast@Home customers are doing the best during this rocky period. AT&T sounds like they are moving customers off the @Home network for good, so perhaps @Home will have to cooperate who's left (Cox/Comcast) or they'd lose all revenue (and the bondholders would get diddly-squat).

DSL Reports:

Test running..........
** Speed 3095(down)/117(up) kbps **
(At least 61 times faster than a 56k modem)
Finish.

I was interested in ATT cable but if there capping at 1.5 then there is no advantage over DSL which is also capped at 1.5.

DSL is rock steady though were cable has more outages...

this is a frickin joke, we were doing a stress test on our modem last night to ensure it was not being buggy, got on morpheus and just downloaded everything possible (3gb of useless audio/video), I'm doing it now and it's 100k/s slower than last night. what a joke.

AT&T works fine, it's your setup that's wrong.

I just had a really bad idea... I hope this is not true.
I called CHarter and asked about conversion to their new "Charter Pipeline" internet service that will be replacing @home. I asked if the rates would be the same for this service and she said "I don't have that information" hah.. they are signing people up for it now, and they can't tell you what they will be charging?!? The MAIN reason I love my @home is because it was so cheap ($10 a month for 3 months, although it just went up to $40, which is not great but beats ANYTHING ELSE OUT THERE!)

I started thinking.. when @home goes away.. the cable companies will switch us over, and they could charge, say $50, like DSL does. And will we say no? WE ARE HOOKED! Actually I will say no because I just can't afford that. So we all lose. Some will lose high speed net service, and others will lose hundreds of dollars a year. $40 a month is a LOT of money. @home COULD have been quite profitable! I smell something fishy here!!!!!!

By the way, my modem does not appear to recover well from network outings.. I unplugged the power cord and put it back in and VOILA!! I have @home back again !! So to all of you suffering, try that first.. I thought I was down for the count.
