AT&T is down, and I just got an automated call telling me that they are working on migrating to their new network which should be ready within the week, and that we'll get 2 days credit for each 1 day offline.

We'll see if this actually happens.

@home is down for Birmingham, AL for those who were on ATT and transitioned to Charter. I was able to reconfigure and use Charter Pipeline. I'm really p!ssed that I can't get to my @home email server. I used those email addresses for important stuff and for ad emails I requested.

Does anyone have the ip address for the @home mail servers or an address I can use to connect to them. I tried mail.home.com and that didn't work.

I think it depends upon your location. Like for me it is: mail.lwmrn1.pa.home.com, so you might need to stick in your location.state or something in there :p

Insight/ATT@home went down at 7:00 AM CST this morning and was restored at 1:30 PM CST. E-mail is back up too, as far as I can tell.

Sigh. I can't figure out what my connect name used to be. I know that it's some combination of an abreviation of Pleasanton and CA for the state but no luck so far ...

Still here in IN. The most recent news from Insight@home

Saturday, December 1, 2001

Here is the most recent update on the Excite@Home situation:

Insight, along with other cable operators, is currently in the tail end of positive negotiations with @Home. At this time, we fully expect to maintain connectivity for our Insight@Home customer base.

We recognize that certain communities in our Central Illinois service areas have seen an interruption in service this morning due to an @Home error. We are working diligently to correct this issue and expect full service to be restored today. We apologize to these customers for any inconvenience this has caused.

Thank you for your continued patience as we work through this issue.

Definitely a wait and see game, at least if they do go down for long peroid of time I get DSL in area.

Try using netmail.home.com ....that is the generic. I use that address to check @Home email from Yahoo.

Those on Charter@Home in Fort Worth have now been switched to Charter Pipeline.....I can still get my @Home email from my Yahoo account.......

Here in Western Canada, Shaw saw a possible problem with @home about a year ago, and built up their own network. They have full web-hosting, and e-mail access now. All run from their beautiful data center in downtown Calgary!

As for Rogers out on the East side of Canada, I assume they have done the same thing.

Lucky for me I switched my e-mail from @Home to Shaw a few months back.

Us Canadians are almost 100% immune from @Homes failure now. :D :D :D

I am still up here in South Jersey. For now. But man I'll tell you I just don't think I could stomach going back to dial up. But on the other hand, I can't see paying $50+ for DSL either. But Comcast just raised our fee for the month by $7. In a way I don't blame Excite. I would want more money as well.

This explains the AT&T people. From Yahoo:

AT&T Corp.(NYSE:T - news) said on Saturday that troubled ExciteAtHome Corp.(ATHMQ.OB) had shut down high-speed cable Internet access used by 850,000 AT&T customers, who would be moved to a new AT&T provider.

A federal judge on Friday ruled that bankrupt ExciteAtHome, in order to reach better terms for its service, could unplug customers, threatening to strand some 4.1 million Internet users served by AT&T and other cable companies. ''AT&T continued negotiations with At Home Corporation late into Friday evening and early Saturday morning only to see the ExciteAtHome service cut off,'' AT&T Broadband said in a statement.

AT&T said it had already migrated some 86,000 customers in Oregon and Washington to an AT&T Broadband service and would move remaining customers within 10 days.
