if its the first boot on a new build ..I think my first inclination would to be to do a bios reset.

Have you checked twice that everything is connect right. Also double check any jumper settings you've changed.

Otherwise: does it make a series of beeps when you start it up?

Well I know the power led isn't connected right but I figured that doesn't matter. I'll fix that.

Ok it seems that the power switch just isn't turning the thing on.

I've tried connected it both rightside up and down and nothing seems to turn it on.

The fans connected to the powerboard spin so I know it's getting power.. But the light on the DVD drive isn't even coming on..

Is there a way to bypass the power switch on the case and see if that will is the problem?

yes you can start the power supply by just shorting the pins together momentarily with a screwdriver for instance. But from what you say the power supply is switching on as the fans are spinning. If the hard drives are not spinning and the CDs do not operate then I would check their connections to the power supply. If that doesn't work I would cast a suspicious eye over the power supply!

Well the Power Supply seems to work fine. It's more like the "on" switch doesn't work... Unless the dvd drive should work automatically when plugged in?

I was wondering if you could do that.. almost did before I realized how pissed I would be in the morning if it blew the computer up. heh.

I'll give it a try knowing it won't work now ;)

ok it didn't.

what is the bare minimum i need to just get the mobo to display? I shouldn't need the hard drive or dvd connected...

Do I need to connect the RAM for the system to boot (yes it's connected now I just to know if it is required to show something on the screen)
