Alpha's post reminded me...compatibility test sorting question

beer

Alf's post reminded me that I needed to ask this.

Our school gave a compatibility test to the students, and I'm on the committee that's supposed to make sense of the data.

We have a database with 1300 records, 30+ fields a peice. Is there a known algorithm that will do pattern matching?

I have the MS Univeral Data Access SDK but I think I'm in over my head with it.

The only langauge I am familiar with is C++, and a limited knowledge at that...really just the C++ Console (aka DOS Box)

For once you've been useful =)

j/k

Well not about the "being useful" part, but the "once" part
