Alpha Protocol

Haven't seen any mention of this here. Developed by Obsidian (KoToR2) and Sega. No character classes, just 10 skills you level up. I'd guess different weapons, lockpicking/hacking, fighting skills maybe. Multiple side-missions around the world in addition to the main quest. Femme fatales. And probably a skiing sequence, but that's just my guess based on half the Bond films. Writer of Planescape Torment involved.

Not too many modern themed RPGs out there so could be a refreshing change of pace. Let's just hope the "completed" product is more complete than KoToR2.

Expected Q1 09.

I'm not sure if it's supposed to be mostly realistic or a boob/beating (interrogations)/bullet-fest.

Btw, Q1 09? You mean Q1 10? Original release date was this October, which seemed suicidal since the classic RPG folks are all buying Dragon Age. Of course, going up against ME2 would be even worse...

Pushed back again...

Original release date was Q1 09 in April or something, then October 11 IIRC, now Q1 '10...

That sucks I was hoping for October release to have something similar to Mass Effect between ME 1&2 but if it comes out Q1 '10, I'll be playing ME2 instead.

Yeah but if ME2 is as long as the first you'll only need 6 hours or so 🙂 🙂 i loved ME btw, played it through 3 times.

First time, full complete took 32+ hours. I'll still be in AIT training come April so I'll have like 1 hour, maybe 2 a day to play, assuming my company doesn't do something stupid to piss off the sargents in command there(which hey probably will), it'll take me quite a while to finish it.

for Mass Effect!?! I think I did it in 16 the first time, and I'm an annoying completist too.

Well, the little bit of info in the GC2008 impressions makes it sound awesome. I like that it has a unique setting. I'm not much into the slower paced RPGs so the action part of it is a good thing to me. It sounds kind of like Splinter Cell as an RPG. And that's another one (Splinter Cell Conviction) that was supposed to be out this year or last but is Q1 2010 now.

I didn't realize the OP was a year old. Has there been any new previews on it?

Ah thread necro, i need to learn to read. I thought he meant Q1 2010, but in 2008 he meant Q1 2009 which falls in line with the original release date.

Release is still 10/6/2009.

That's some goo news at least.

Oh wow that's great! I guess that's why when I loaded Steam it popped up as available for preorder.

Apparently there is more to the Bourne/Bauer/Bond thing than just the plot and character. The Wiki article says the conversations go like that where Bourne is professional, Bauer is aggressive, and Bond is suave (without names, but based on them). Hahha that's awesome. Jack Bauer FTW

This is one of the few games to make my "actually care about" list in 2009. Wonder if they'll have a collector's edition?
