Fraternity Blues
by Townes Van Zandt

I decided to improve my social station
I joined a fraternity organisation
tucked in my shirt
signed on the line
right away they set about to improve my mind
the car I drove
the books I read
the food I ate
the booze I drank
the girls I took out
my breath
Said Kid, we don't much like the way you walk
and you gonna have to change the way you talk
They said your dress is kind of sludge
and your attitude is mighty grudge
Said you got to learn to bubble
You got to bubble with enthusiasm
I started bubblin'
Most important thing you can't forget
is learning the entire Greek alphabet
I never did really understand
that that's gonna make me anymore a man
but I learned it
I can whip through that Son-of-a-beta backwards in five seconds
Then they hit me with some pretty bad news
concerning the payment of monthly dues
I never did know where that money went
I never was sure it was that well spent
but I paid it
I'm no troublecauser and besides I figured that's life
if you want good friends it gonna cost you
Well, finally got to be party time
I got a great big old jug of wine
I went back to the house in about an hour
when the boy's were drinking whiskey sours
Brandy Alexanders
frozen daquires
reciting the Greek alphabet to one another
I could see I was gonna have to do my very best
to get myself out of that fraternity mess
I stood right there outside the door
and I chugged that wine like never before
walked inside and bubbled
all over a couple of their dates
So now everything's back to normal again
but there is still lots of room for improvement my friend
'cause that fraternity stuff is too much for me
next time I'm gonna join a sorority
really get me something to bubble about

ew, that'll be an overkill. find yourself a time management to see if you have free time to spend with fraternity.

Never heard of it. You can really only ask people from the particular college you are going to. Chapters are different at each campus.

Frats, in general, are annoying. I peg all those rushees in suits with a tennis ball whenever they walk by the courts.

IT's a huge national frat. Service frat. Coed. Not like a social frat or anything. Iono. Someone was saying how you dont go through all the hazing crap you usually hear/see in a social frat.

There are way too many honor society type deals that take on greek letters. It really is hard to keep track of them all.

That's kind of mean. Why would you do that to a service frat? Heck, why would you do that to anyone at all?

Because I'm a jackass and I would do it if it were a baby, with down syndrome, crawling by. If he/she were in a frat.

Well as long as you don't discriminate.

Only good part about frats is the partys. Wich get old within 6-8 months. And youll just end up drinking beer with your friends. I get more women than any frat boy too. wtf. frats are stupid.

Honestly, fraternities are EXTREMELY different based upon their chapters. Except SAE. They're a bunch of fvcktards everywhere.

It's a service fraternity. It's like Circle K. Go ahead and join. Pledging is not nearly as intense as with "social" fraternities and you really only have to participate as much as you can or want to. It looks good on your resume, and it's good for your karma.

APO is a service frat, national and coed, they do assloads of community service and stuff like that, if you like that stuff go for it i have a lot of friends that were in it at my college and they loved it, hell some were in it and it a social frat

i talked to a freidns of mine and while they do pledge its NOTHING like pledging a social frat

Sexual Assault Expected!

EDIT: Anyway, the co-ed frats that aren't strictly social are  in my book. APO, Delta Sigma Pi, and a few others I can't think of off the top of my head (there's one called GEL around here) have a lot of cool people.

Sigma Chi on the other hand, fags.

i was in APO for a while

it's not really a social frat...more like a community service organization

it was cool at first, but it can suck all your time, and it becomes its own subculture. it becomes your life...

that wasn't what i was looking for, so i left within a year
