Alpha PAL 8045 vs. Swiftech MCX462

You want subjective answers based on emotion (the Alpha looks way cooler than the Swifty), or objective answers based on empirical data and the scientific method (an HSF shootout under strictly controlled conditions performed by a truly unbiased techie)?
 
the alpha is only $30 the MCX462 $70.... for what 1C of temp?


doesn't seem worth it to me....

paid $40 for my PAL8942... and bought five PAL8045 for $30 a pop......

it basically comes down to this... if you want performance then get alpha, if you want extreme performance and have nothing else to waste your money on get a swiftech...
 
Swiftech MCX462. It's in a league of its own.

Guys, he is asking which is better from a performance standpoint -- not a value or price/performance standpoint. PAL8045 is an excellent heatsink, no bones about it ... but MCX462 outperforms it, and (IMHO) looks better as well 😀
