FIrst thing I like to say is I have used Alpha heatsinks from teh beginning and I still think they make the best heatsinks but I have just been trying to install this 8045 on my KT7A for the last 2 days. On and off about 15 times and still no go.
Below is a letter to Alpha, anyone know what is up and may be able to help?
Hi,
I bought your Alpha 8045 3 days ago. I have spend about 5 more hours tonight trying to install it but The Nylon Hex nuts just will not tighten at all. THis is beyond frustration. Like I told you on the phone, the idling temps I get are GREAT, about 5 degrees lower them my Alpha 6035 but once some cpu intensive app is used, the Computer locks up like crazy. I have installed and reinstalled this thing for 15 times over the last 3 days!
I like t keep trying but this is draining on my time. I really don't understand how the Nylon Nut can be turn to a point where its tight and won't spin. Its just not happening with mine!
Now I am not a newbie in computer building. I have used Alphas since my slot 1 Pentium days and Build over 15 computers over teh last 4 years. SO I know what I am doing but This is just absolutely baffling!
NOw the standoffs are suppose to be finger tight right? But that is not enough as whent eh spring screw is on, it starts spinning too? I get GREAT idling temps but whenever PRime 95 or Any CPU apps are run, the computer freezes. NOw I am back to my 6035 with higher iding temps but it works fine. What is going on?
I do notice teh spring screws are kind of tight....Should it be loser?
