Alpha heatsinks

IGBT

Lifer
..haven't heard anybody using Alpha heatsinks in awhile. I have a xp2400+ box I used an Alpha on. Big chunk of alum.wit a copper base and it mounts on posts that mount on the MOB. Big 80mm fan on it. Works like a block of ice. Are they still in use/around??

I doubt that most people use them anymore, seeing as how they probably wouldn't mount properly on any modern motherboard without some serious modding. Also, most of the best HSFs now use 120mm fans and have superior heatpipe designs.

I have disassembled my P4 rig a few days ago and it had an Alpha 8942 on the cpu. Great heatsink, but my new Scythe Ninja dwarfs it, considering size AND technology.

still got one chugging away on a socket-a box... they were the best (price/perf) when they were new...

I am using a socket 939 alpha in my wife's machine and I have the socket 775 alpha in my machine.

they are not too difficult to mount and the work ok for me.

wife has an FX57 at 3GHz I have an E6400 at 3200.
