Alpha fans on Epox-- anyone used 'em?

It's a simple question but one I can't find a straight answer on... which is a good solid, reliable heatsink fan for possible OC'ing?

Also, what's a good quiet case fan to accompany this?

Help appreciated for cooling newbie...

Well if you dont want to take the risk of the Alpha Pal 8045 go with the Thermalright SK6. Ive got a SK6 cooling my XP1800+ at 1.6 (43-44C under full load). I also have a SK6 cooling my Tbird 1.0 at 1.3 (45-46C under full load).

There was a recent thread on this exact topic. Some people said that the Alpha rested against the capacitor and some people said it clears said capacitor. Some people performed the recommended modification, some left it resting against the capacitor. I happen to be one of the lucky one's whose Alpha does not touch the capacitor. Couldn't fit much more than a strand of thread between the two, but they don't touch.

Why dont they make a 70mm version of the 8045 as well, i think that would clear up alot of issues with compatability. Granted it wont cool as well, but the design seems to be great, so why not expand their market.

8045 is on my 8K7A... no probs
the only thing is that the nylon nuts come pretty close to the circuitry on the bottom of the board... watch out for that.

I can't imagine what life would be like without an Alpha PAL8045 on my Epox 8k7a. Plus my enermax adjustable fan.......heavenly........

The 8045 is great for the 8KHA+. Mine clears everything on the mobo just fine. Using 4 Panaflo L1A's and as case fans and an L1A on my heatsink. It's a little warm because of the L1A on the heatsink but it's quiet and finding a 60mm as quiet as this would result in very very high temps.

If you're worried about clearance on the mobo, get the new ThermalRight AX-7, it's got a 60mm base that extends to 80mm on top for the fan. Performs as well as, if not better than the alpha cooler does in all the tests i've read.

I'm using an Alpha PAL 8045 on 8KHA+, did have to LIGHTLY move one capacitor, nothing to worry about. Fits and works great. At svcompucycle.com, 8045 is $30 + reasonable shipping.
Panaflo L1A fans and "Silencers" are good choices for case fans, and also work OK on the 8045.

That AX-7 Tooks awesome... Where can i find out if it will fit my mobo??
