Alpha 8045 installed - No difference in temps?

I bought an alpha 8045 with a silencer fan to replace my coolermaster 6i11.(http://www.coolermaster.com/products/cpucooler/fcpga/ep5-6i11.html), hoping to bring my cpu temps down a few degrees. I turned the computer on....and it runs exactly the same temps, under idle, and under load. About the only thing I've gained is the computer being slightly quieter thanks to the fan I've used. Did I do something wrong, or does this sound right?

Is your fan blowing onto the HS or sucking away from it? I also had the same problem. Because the fan is supposed to suck away, it was creating a nice little hot pocket of air, so I added a quiet 80mm exhaust fan near the hsf and dropped a few degrees. Pic Here

I have 2 intake fans, and 2 exhaust, they're all silencer fans. Plus the power supply fans. I'm using arctic silver 3. I'm pretty sure its sucking off the HS, if the sticker is facing up, that means its sucking, right?

what are the specs of the Silencer fan? If its very low then of course the temps wont be substantially lower.

Well, the silencers push 28cfm, relatively low for an 80mm fan, but the coolermaster fan I pulled off only did 21

I read a post saying that the silencers don't perform that great under pressure and you're better off getting a Panaflo L1A.

Actually, your results seem about right to me, other than your perception that the fan is only slightly quieter. Silencers really don't perform very well against the restriction of a heatsink, and the coolermaster is a decent performer, if a little noisy.

Using a M1a panaflo or similar on the alpha should give the best of both worlds- considerably better performance and quieter than the Coolermaster.

Nevermind, picked one up at pcmods.com I know I could have gotten one cheaper elsewhere, but I wanted to get the tail there, so after shipping, it just made more sense to get it there. I was debating between the L1a and the H1a, and decided that it would be worth it to get the H1a (39cfm at 32db vs 24cfm at 21db). Still quieter than the coolermaster one, which is 37db, which wasn't bad when I had it in the case with the silencers for a couple of days.

Yeh, your temps will definitely drop with a 80mm H1A installed. If that's louder than your want, then look for a M-series panaflo or maybe a med speed Adda from Phamcomputer. Many of us used to get panaflos from Teamawe, but it looks like his business folded. Too bad.
