Hahahahaha...they're FINISHED.

Another GOP implosion after the McCain loss.

After 9 months, and after devoting seemingly thousands of hours to the administration of this forum, it's time to draw the curtain. I hope those who participated in the HCF during the election found the experience productive. It was like a rollercoaster, and we had some amazing times, that's for sure. Now, however, it's time for me (& maybe you all too!) to take a rest. For me "the battle" is over. I had wanted to move the forum in a different direction to be more inclusive of all people, regardless of political preference, but clearly now is not the right time for that. As such, I have tonight decided, without endless discussion & division, to close the forum until further notice. Maybe in the future some time we can try again at "CommonGroundPolitics" when emotions are less raw. Til then, be well.

Best of luck to everyone,
Admin.

I disagree. I've actually become quite informed via P&N, as surprising (or sad) that sounds. There are a lot of smart people here who read a lot, so hearing from them can only expand one's knowledge horizon.

I'm not sure where my sarcasm meter should be at right now.

It's been revived, at least for the moment anyway.

Hurray, more comedy as the people there become more and more conflicted. Hillary as SoS would tie her success to Obama's administration, so they can't hope for Obama to crash and burn anymore. Of course, if Obama is successful, it gives her the chance to run again in 2012.

agreed, the only good that I find this place offers is highlighting stories that I otherwise may have missed, saves me the time of scanning alot of different news outlets...

But in terms of discussion and what not, these forums are a joke...no one changes their mind based off of these discussions....ever, it is just a sounding board so people can put up their own partisan rhetoric and either have others get behind them and give a reach around or throw it back in their face.

Okay... you can be the first to change your position on ANYTHING!

A fascinating forum that I had bookmarked due to my interest in human psychology.

Seriously, these are mentally crippled people who worshiped a person and have no concept of the value of ideas/ideals. After reading posts for months, I wasn't surprised to find that about half of them were projecting their own disorder onto Obama supporters.

Sadly most of these pathetic people would gladly follow Hillary to Guyana and ingest a grape drink laced with cyanide.

Edit for a more direct answer to the OP:

The web site was started by a Hillary worshiper. Many like minded joined in the fun, and when Obama won the primary they became angry with the party. Rather than face the fact that HRC's campaign made some mistakes, they assumed that since she was the leading Dem candidate for so long, that the candidacy must have been stolen from her. Personally, from the sheer number of posters that literally hated Obama, I suspect more than a few racists in that group.

The Administrator (now known as CommonGround) was instrumental in encouraging the anger as well as in offering support for McCain. This got them all a lot of attention from right wing media who wanted to exploit their dissatisfaction into McCain votes.
The administrator was not too tolerant with anyone who disagreed with the majority of whack jobs posting there, and the forum became strictly a "mutual admiration society".
These people were in denial right up to the end even with the overwhelming evidence that Obama was going to win.

After the election (for whatever reason) the administrator decided to open the forum up more, to differing views. These crazies could not stand that others might have perfectly good arguments and it was hard for them to see their opinions challenged. The Administrator closed the forum for a while and my guess is that he received an overwhelming number of email complaints from original members.

Now that Hillary is back in the news, the forum is open again, but I believe the administrator is just curious as to if opinions have changed now that HRC might be a player again.
