Alone in the Dark came out in 93 for the pc, Resident Evil was out in 95 and was pretty much a straight lift of the game mechanics and theme of AITD. Text

This movie could have had soo much more potential if they would have stuck with the Lovecraft/victorian setting.

Carnby should be played by a man, not a boy wonder... Uwe Boll is a terrible director...
The cast is simply not cut out for a movie like this. IMO, changing the story was a terrible move as well, the original game took place in the early XX. century, not the modern age.
AITD is a great game, but this movie is just a cheap Alien/Resident Evil rip-off, unworthy to bear the name AITD.

"you need an actor who can make the words SOUND smart, and Reid won't be winning a Nobel Prize anytime soon (she's proof that alcohol kills brain cells ? with a vengeance)."
Now THAT is cold
"If you took the 100 worst ideas ever conceived for a science-fiction film, rattled them around in a Lotto tumbler and spilled them out onto the screen at random, you could not produce a more asinine hodgepodge than Alone in the Dark."
And that's just a poetic dis :p

Yeah, won't be seeing this soon.
