Almost nothing bothers me any more

Car gets keyed: insurance $100 deductible to repaint if it's my Mazda3; live w/it w/o remorse if it's the junker

graffiti on my garage door: file police report, and repaint

lose $10k in Vegas in a week gambling + strip clubs: i never bring what i cant afford to lose. The $10k as entertainment value in my eyes.

i get a ticket for going 15mph over the speed limit: i wasnt paying attention to my speed, and deserved the ticket. pay it, and move on. even as i got pulled over i wasnt upset. i actually laughed a little.

girl shoots me down for a date: move on to next girl

some idiot i've never met b4 bumps into me as i'm walking down the street, and tells me to watch where i'm going: i just shake my head and walk away

etc...

Everything i own i can afford to replace, and/or is insured.

Life is too short to dwell on the negative.

That's not to say NOTHING bothers me. Things that would definitely bother me is if people i care about get hurt, or hurt me emotionally (ie: betraying my trust).

so basically i dont care what happens to my material things or things that happen to me if i deserve it (ie: ticket).

What do you think about this "Don't care" attitude? And anyone else have the same outlook in life?

edit:
i wasnt always like this. i used to get upset if i get door dings, or if i spilled a little coffee on my shirt. but i dont know what exactly was the catalyst that made me switch to my current view.

If you know, how did you come about this outlook in life?

^ that would make me sick. all the other things i would chalk up to "shit happens", but blowing 10 grand like that wouldn't be something i'd allow to happen.

You gotta do something really special to get any kind of emotional reaction out of me. For the most part Im like that, I just dont care about most things. Thats not to say that Im going to do a half a$$ stuff at work or anything, but to be honest I couldnt really care less what happens.

Your response is irrelevant, and judgmental. He said he brought what he was okay with losing.

no kidding it was judgmental. did you forget you are posting on an internet messageboard? that's protocol. 😛

Not much pisses me off, a few things are when I do something little thats stupid, example would be something along the line off trying to put a nut on a bolt thats in a location where if you drop the nut, it's gone, and I know this but still drop the nut. Next thing that pisses me off would be inconsiderate drivers. Next, would be electronics that don't do what they're supposed to do, ie. computers. almost anything else, i could give a sh1t less about.

Of course I didn't and wouldn't blow 10k at a casino. 😛

You've turned into an old man. Pretty soon if not already you'll be wearing a gut with khakis and a tucked in dress shirt with rolled up sleeves.

What a worthless comment. All he was asking was what people thought of the attitude--apparently you haven't matured.

I have been like you all my life. The only time I get worked up is if someone hurts me or a close friend/family member physically or emotionally.

The other day I had my friend drive us home after we were drinking at some bars. He thought he was fine, but we ended up getting pulled over. In the end he was hand cuffed and taken away, and my car was impounded. I wasn't scared one bit, nor was I even mad. I knew what we did wrong. The cops were baffled by how I was handling the situation so lightly.

The way I look at it is....life is way too short. Theres no need to get worked up over things. ***** happens, deal with it and move on with your life. I don't know how some people hold grudges. If someone pisses me off I let them know and try to resolve it. If I cant resolve it, then I just simply stop talking to that person.

I don't think your attitude is "I don't care" so much as it is that you realize there are more important things to life that worrying about all the problems you might have. You said it yourself that you don't have much of an attachment to material things which is probably a good thing. Granted, you might have found a better use for 10k.

IIRC, you had an "My life is good but I'm depressed" thread a while back.

If so, I hope this shift in attitude is a maturing and not a numbing. I'm an old fart and feel much the same way on most of those things, but I still enjoy my life more than any man deserves.

that is his thoughts on it. His attitude is nothing remarkable. Its simply a sign of growing up and accepting the fact that shit happens, but as long as you are alive and well, it really doesn't matter.

It's so obvious. You have to resolve some issues with your dad, come to terms with your grief over your mom's death and profess your love for Natalie Portman.

did you see who the poster was?

Go help out at a soup kitchen? Go build a Habitat for Humanity house?

I really feel sorry for you actually. You will have no highs in your life if there are no lows to balance them out.

Mosh, that would make me sick too. When I lose money, whether I know the possibility exists or not, it makes me feel sick to my stomach and I ended up losing several nights of sleep over it. Unfortunate. 18
