Almost just burned my trailer down!

I have a plug adaptor, then a 220v to 110v converter plugged into my wall outlet. Running off the converter I had only my laptop and tv plugged in. Anyways, I left the room and came back an hour later to find smoke in the room. I quickly realized that it was coming from the wall outlet that had burned out!

Anyways, heres some aftermath pictures. The plug was about 3 inches away from my bedsheets. lol.

..doesn't take much to catch a trailor on fire. Friend lost a double wide under similar conditions. It was burnt down to the frame by the time the fire dept showed up. Fire harden your electrical as much as possible.

how do you like Iraq? people? been in a gun fight yet? do you see peace in the future?

you never share any experience from Iraq. You are not being nice! 🙁

Just be glad it didn't happen when you were sleeping.

What does the army do if a trailer unit does get destroyed somehow?

Do they have replacements ready?

Be more careful, TB. It would really suck if you killed YOURSELF over in Iraq, now wouldn't it? 😉

Thank you for what you're doing for the USA and for democracy everywhere.

ps
How is a Texas Divorce like a tornado? Somehow, someone is going to lose a trailer. 😀

Its funny but I can never think of stuff, or feel greedy whenever someone offers. We're living decent here (for it being iraq anyways) so there isn't a whole lot of "need" going around.

I never really have anything interesting to talk about this place. Its not so bad over here. I haven't really experienced anything to crazy.

I still don't understand all of the hate towards being here from back in the states, but at the same time I wouldn't have any qualms about us pulling out slowly. Most of the soldiers that are upset about being here are just mad about being away from home and their families for a year. Quite possibly for the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th time already.

Yep...my brother in law is going back for the 2nd time in 2 weeks with a USMC unit...he showed me pics from his last tour...including one where his Hummer got f**ked up by a landmine or something, but everyone came out unscathed.

Stay safe Bill.

what exactly are you doing over there? i mean, whats your job or position or whatever.

sorry, don't know much about the military so i'm probably not useing the proper terms.

I'm a military policeman. A decent portion of my current job is with detainee transfers.
I only go "outside the wire" maybe once or twice a week.

I dislike this particular job, and would much rather be out patrolling, but its all luck of the draw I suppose. I got to do that two years ago in Afghanistan. Perhaps my next deployment will find a happy medium.
