Bottom line: Does the red/blue hurt the original colors at all? That seems inevitable to me. Should one go with the more expensive polarized/clear 3D glasses instead? Do they work just as good?

Red/Blue glasses throw the color off a little bit. I have tried the other glasses back in the day but it had a wire going to it off the video card, and you MUST use a Nvidia card, will not work with ATi. Plus you must buy the product after 30 days is up, where the red/blue glasses usage is totally free, and IMO the 3d effect, aside of the color being off a bit, looks just as good 3d wise.

If someone can peep up about the nvidia glasses by all means do so. I just dont see this as being gimmick, ill have no problems using this for days on end for it looks great to me. much better then old school 3d, like Jaws in 3d that half ass works, this really, honestly works and makes it look great. Again minus the performance hit, and color shift, which for me is very minor.

Yes, unfortunately however it is the next big marketing gimick to the under 25 crowd and they are going to push it until you grow to accept it, just like they did with that stupid iCrap.

I'm 28 and I don't own any iCrap. Plus I have little to no depth perception and all this 3D garbage does is give me a red/blue image in whatever eye, or a headache (shutter glasses that run at 60hz/eye).

Has anyone other then me had a chance to try this out so people will see Im not crazy?

lol. you're not crazy. I tried this with red/cyan glasses. I can see the depth, and that's neat and all, but as you know the colors are off a bit from the red blue lenses. Also my cyan lens is a little bit too clear so it's not blocking the red enough so I'm seeing a red fringe which is annoying. Yes I tweaked the separation following the on screen prompts but the problem is the lens.

So, red/blue=skewed colors and Nvidia 3d using active glasses=expensive
As for the polarized lenses, you need a display with 2 polarized outputs, one for each eye. That's even more expensive than the nvidia active glasses.

I tried this with the free red/blue option. It was cool enough as a gimmick but the color change made it hard to make things out in FO3. Although I did get a couple sweet pairs of Harry Potter 3D shades from dealextreme.

Have you tried the amber/blue ones? I didn't think they skewed the color quite as much.

I ordered a pair of magenta/greens which I wil try next. Having trouble finding amber/blue ones though. Can you recommend a source? Thanks.

Also has anyone tried the Nvidia solution on an LCD that can only do 60hz? 30hz for each eye? Seeing as that would only be around $200 I could swing that, but not if the flicker is really bad.

I got mine from the Superbowl promo last year, so I don't really know.
