I prefer soy. Actually I prefer real milk, but soy is my favorite substitute.

I tried almond milk once. It was really good but also really sweet. More of a dessert drink. Probably great for cookies, not great for cereal except for low-sugar stuff like Wheaties and Cheerios.

I like soy myself. Can't drink regular milk; I'm not lactose intolerant but ever since I started drinking soy milk years ago, regular milk tastes gross to me. To me it smells and tastes like it's spoiled even when it's not.

My wife is lactose intolerant, so the almond milk works for her. I can even tolerate it if I have to. I can't stand soy milk.

$3.99 for a 88 oz bottle. 100% vegan too!

WOW! That's expensive. IIRC, we got the last half-gallon for about $2.50.

It's not bad. We get it when it's on sale and we have a coupon lol.
I didn't know what it was gonna taste like at first. Pretty much tastes like liquid almonds to me.......I shouldn't have been surprised at that

I wont have it on my cereal tho

New? Not really. I think it's been around for at least a couple of years...maybe longer. We've been using Almond Breeze for that long.

Been meaning to give it a try. I like Vanilla and Chocolate Soy, though seeing Almond Milk was intriguing, just was never intriguing enough for me to pay for it.

This is kind of the same reason I have never tried Plain Soy Milk. I just don't want to try something that ends up pointing out some nasty thing that suddenly sticks out like a sore thumb amongst something I like.

Soy milk always has that "shredded wheat" taste to it. My wife can't drink a lot of milk, so when she gets on a soy milk kick, she tends to lean toward the 'light' plain varieties. They aren't sweetened with the vanilla flavor and when you get the light version, it isn't as thick...it's closer to skim milk in consistency.

I don't recall the brand she likes the best...it's some dude's name on the label. The Silk brand is a close second for the plain/light variety.

I mainly drink Almond Milk (Almond Breeze unsweetened) but just noticed that Silk has come out with a Coconut Milk! It's kind of watery compared to regular/soy/almond Milk but its delicious and healthy too.

Almond milk is much better than Soy milk but both suck compared to the real stuff. It sucks being Lactose intolerant.

In China, at least in Guandong, a typical dessert is some kind of sweet soup. Usually it's made out of red bean, green bean or some kind of sweet bean mixture. But there is also an almond sweet soup that is really good. I have also found almond powder drinks as well. I wonder how they compare to your almond milk.

Flavored soy drinks are common. Vita Soy has the typical vanilla soy milk but they also have soy milk flavored with malt, coconut and melon (cantalope or honey dew kind of flavor) for example. The flavoured ones are pretty good. I don't consider them to be milk substitutes personally but as a separate category of drinks. Presenting soy beverages as soy milk is highly charitable marketing ploy.

I thought almond milk was disgusting. I drank part of a glass and gave the rest of the container away. I do like soy milk though. However my favorite substitute is rice milk, preferably from 'Rice Dream'. Pricing can be a bit weird with it, but it's quite nice.

You reminded me... I had a Burmese friend growing up, and his parents always bought these sweet rolls that had a red bean filling. If I remember right, you heated them up by steaming them. Those things were pretty tasty. Any of you know what they're called? I wouldn't mind getting them again :^)

Not so much.
If you do the math, that comes to $3.43 for 88 oz.

Hmmmm... that's pretty common. Basically you can find any kind of filled steamed bun. In Cantonese I think it's called Hong Dao Bao. Actually, now that I think about it, here I usually see red bean inside a baked bun, like a red bean pineapple bun. But I have seen it in steamed buns I'm sure.
