Since they just released allTunes recently (or at least I never knew about it), I'm guessing this wasn't expected. I'm remaining hopeful that it comes back up both because I had money in my account and I would probably turn to BT and usenet for music which really sucks.

LoL! $25 a concert? Now you're dreaming!
The last show I saw ran me $160/ticket. I think that's the most I've ever paid but I've definitely paid more than $100 (face value) on a few occasions.
I think seeing U2 twice (at maybe $130 per ticket (*2 for the gf)) gives me the right to download their whole discography (though I bought it used anyway).

Wow you guys are retarded. You are buying illegal music knowingly. Why the hell not just download it for free? It's illegal both ways, but one case you save money and don't help stupid ass pirates.
It is not illegal.

I checked over Allofmp3.com - different songs come in different bitrates even on the same album??? They probably got their songs where everyone else does - filesharing networks.

You are not a Russian citizen. You can say its legality is undetermined for citizens of the US, but you can't give any type of blanket proof that it is not illegal.

People use that as their excuse, then pay for 5 concerts while they download and keep 100 CDs from 50 artists.Originally posted by: NutBucket
Meh. If I like an artist I'll pay for a concert.
Well...
5 concerts, at let's say a bargain price of $25 each.
And one $20 T-shirt
$145
100 CDs at say $14 each. $1400. How much does the artist get from that? Need at least 10.36 cents per disc to make that $145. How much do the artists actually get from CDs? Anyone know any actual numbers on this?

Oh sweet Jesus, thank the lord. I thought I was gonna have to turn to BT or Usenet. And yes, searching and download from BT and Usenet sucks compared to searching through an expansive catalog and clicking one button to have it delivered to my music folder, fully tagged, with encoder and bitrate of my choice.![]()

major artists get less than $1 per CD. even semi indie labels (kill rock stars, touch go, matador, etc) can pay out as little as one dollar depending on the band. The only time a band makes a good margin off of a CD is when they sell it at their own shows. They also get a large portion (much larger than CD sales) of concert ticket sales. I only buy CD's from touring artists at their shows for this reason. I download a fair share of music, but i also pay to see about 3 shows a week and probably buy 3 cds a month off of the artists themselves, so...
