Wow. Only concert I've been to was a Weird Al Concert....actually I think it was $40. And I get e-mails from They Might Be Giants with concert schedules - I they charge $20-25 for tickets...unless of course they're doing a free show.🙂 And heck, sometimes they charge for tickets, but the proceeds are donated to charity.

I checked over Allofmp3.com - different songs come in different bitrates even on the same album??? They probably got their songs where everyone else does - filesharing networks.

Allofmp3 allows you to download albums in different bitrates -- they say that it's "dynamically encoded", or something like that.

Oh sweet Jesus, thank the lord. I thought I was gonna have to turn to BT or Usenet. And yes, searching and download from BT and Usenet sucks compared to searching through an expansive catalog and clicking one button to have it delivered to my music folder, fully tagged, with encoder and bitrate of my choice. 🙂

concerts are gonna get worse. ticket master is now going to auction off its best tickets to the highest bidder. basicsally they wanted a cut of that ticket scalping goodness. but the result is legit customers are just screwed

major artists get less than $1 per CD. even semi indie labels (kill rock stars, touch go, matador, etc) can pay out as little as one dollar depending on the band. The only time a band makes a good margin off of a CD is when they sell it at their own shows. They also get a large portion (much larger than CD sales) of concert ticket sales. I only buy CD's from touring artists at their shows for this reason. I download a fair share of music, but i also pay to see about 3 shows a week and probably buy 3 cds a month off of the artists themselves, so...
