Has anyone ever tried allocating memory to a specific irq, say for example if I allocated 4-8mb of my total 256mb of ram to irq 10 which is my NIC card, would that improve performance at all. Personally I think it is a myth, but if someone has tried it, it would be interesting to know the results.

I did that for my Geforce GTS card (4MB), but I'm not really sure if it that improved performance, although the geforcefaq.com said it would (quoting a user).

hi guys,
When i tell i have tried it on my Ethernet Card u dont blieve me .
too bad :(
Ok listen i have a cable connection with greater than 400kbps
connects so the Downlad Accelerator allmost struggles when i am
doing a simulataneous download (have a PII 350,64 mbRam)
Imagine my Pc is not able to support such high speeds and
Even win98 was starting to hang due to the extreme activity,
So i set aside nearly 8 mb more for this,And lo this really
worked now i can minimse and maximise the Accelerator windows
without delay like before ,Hmmphh and that is why i wrote u about
This .When it can work on my low end system why cant it on yours?
Just check it out :)
