Allergy Shots

Does anyone here have to take them? If you have, have you noticed any improvement? My allergies are getting worse each year and
the allergy medicine i take is not really helping anymore. Needles are one of my biggest phobias so this is more of a last resort thing for me.
Thanks

I don't take them, but my brothers and father do. It did them a world of good. Talk to your doctor about them and see what he/she suggests.

The allergy shots I've taken actually contain the substance that you're allergic to. This was 15 years ago, but the theory was that they desensitize your body to the substance by exposing your body to it repeatedly. Then, you immune response will subside. Sometimes allergies just go away with age.

Definitely do it. I was bitter as all hell when my parents decided I had to get them when I was 10. Same reason, I didn't want two shots a week. :disgust:

However...

They made a world of difference. I've spent a good 4-5 years of my life on them, I was on then off, then back on, & now I'm off again. You'll get used to the shots, they use very small needles & you can request smaller if you want. They're short, too, they dont' go in very far. It's really not that bad, & eventually you'll yawn when they stick you. It's boring & repetitive after a while.

Thats the theory behind all vacinations, they inject you with a small, very week amount of the disease or thing your allergic to and allow your body to form a natural defence against it.
