Allergy Relief

Does anyone here have seasonal allergies? Does anyone know the ratio of salt to water for salt water snorting? Mine are incredibly bad for about a month and they have begun. Also what does everyone use? I've tried all the OTC ones and allegra, Claritin, and zyrtec. They have either not worked or only worked for a year and then did nothing. Benedryl works great but it knocks me out so hard I can barely function. Anyone know of any other prescriptions that they have had success with? BTW the saltwater thing is only until I can get in to see a doctor.

You can buy a kit from Walgreens, consists of the little pot + a few packets of solution to get you started.

Fill the pot with warm water, stir it up, pour in one nostril & out the other.

It works fairly well IF your sinuses aren't swollen. If they are you might as well not even try, the water won't flow at all.

I've never tried "stages" two and three, but you should be able to find anything you want to know using the proper name.

Make two, approx 1 inch long x 1/4 wide lines of Kosher rock salt.

Using a straw, snort one line into each nostril; ensure you breath deeply.

Immediately stand in a scalding hot shower; the steam will convert the salt/mucus mixture into an allergy-relieving salve, providing relief up to 24 hours long!

My doctor reccomended I do that one time. I could never bring myself to do it though.
There used to be some stuff caled Seldane that would work wonders on my alergies, but sadly it was taken of the market something like 10 years ago. 🙁

I was told 8oz. water, 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt, 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda.

I never did it long-term, but a few minutes after you should feel some relief. Just keep in mind that the inside of your nose is very sensitive to water temperature. The allergist that I went to said that he reccommended this to some patients and they never needed to take pills/get treatments again so long as they flushed their nose every night.

Yes it is, but it does burn a bit. I have to psych myself up to do it. Also you can snort it all the way thru into your mouth and spit it out or just let it drain back out you nose 🙂

my sneezing and very itchy watery eyes will be starting up in about a month. Allegra-D works for me but i found the best thing for me is Nasalinx. A couple of squirts up the nose and it stops me from sneezing and my itchy watery eyes.

Is the Nasalinx OTC or prescription?
