Allergies are so bad this last week that I'm taking 2 fexofenadine (Allegra) and 2-3 Cetirize (Zyrtec) pills a day. Loratadine (Claritan) does nothing for me.

What are you guys using? Is it time to go to the doc for some shots?

Did your doctor recommend this combination? I wonder if those aren't working against each other, at this point.

What are your symptoms?

Allegra is the only one that will help me out. Claritan and Zyrtec dont help at all.

Mine were terrible about a month ago and the allergy specific meds didn't do much of anything. I ended up taking a multi-symptom cold medicine and a separate cough suppressant.

Just saw the doctor yesterday for this. Been taking 4-5 Cetirizine to counter it, Loratadine does not good, got prescribed Flonase. Going to try it out later once I pick it up from the pharmacy.

Flonase is a Godsend for me. Without it I'm in total misery, with it people don't even know that I have allergies. Biggest problem for me is that it works so well that I'll start to forget to take it. Three or four days later BOOM, the allergies his and I start taking it religiously again.

Doc had me using the fexa and prescription for flonase for a while. Fexa wasn't really doing anything and a pharmacist recommended Zyrtec, stating that I was possibly becoming tolerant of the fexa and to get off for a couple weeks. Well Zyrtec started off working but a few days ago I was starting to get bad again, so I've been taking whatever I can.

My symptoms are ichy (to the point it feels like something is in my eye), teary eyes, running nose and sneezing. Not much of a cough or headache.

When I first took Flonase it went like this:

1st day: No effects, I sneezed a few times after taking it
2nd day: Allergies worse than before, sneezing, congestion, watery eyes like crazy, I could tell something was happening with my sinuses
3rd day: Better than the second day, but still worse than before I started
4th day: About the same as before I started
5th day: Slightly less allergies than before I started
6th-12th days: Gradual Improvement each day
13th day+: Essentially no hayfever or sinus problems at all. Breathing clearly through my nose, no watery eyes, no sneezing, nothing.

I hope it works for you too.

2 Claritans are usually good enough for me. I did buy some Allegra, but it doesn't seem as good. I think I will try to double up the next time I need it.

Contact your doctor. Too much antihistamine can be worse for you than not enough.

Eh, anything's better than now. I take anywhere from 100mg-200mg of diphenhydramine (Benadryl) at night just so I can sleep through without waking up because of my damn nose.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep it in mind during my break-in period.

I use Zyrtec, it kinda works. Claritin does nothing for me, Allegra does nothing for me, Benadryl works but also knocks me out.

Allergies are bullshit. I've heard some good things about allergy shots but I know little about that.

I used to get a kenalog shot, which would last for about a year. Only cost like $20-30. But now they don't let you have those shots because its considered a steroid. Now they have something else that doesn't work nearly as well, and costs much more.

I was on Allegra as a prescription which worked great for years, but shortly after it went OTC it pretty much stopped working. Nothing else has worked until I recently got Pataday eye drops and Patanase nasal spray, both are prescriptions. So far they seem to work really well.

One 24-hour Zyrtec usually does the trick for me. If my allergies are extra bad, I'll take a Benadryl or two before bed as well.

damn dude, i would be in a coma.

so far nothing, ill be hitting the costco generic pills and flonase in a few weeks. FYI i hate flonase it smells like Raid roach spray.

Allegra when it was a precscription worked well but it gave me the shakes. since it went OTC i have minimal success with it.

Old formula Actifed (tripolidine + pseudoephedrine). When I up the dosage to 3x recommended, not only do my allergies (or cold symptoms) go away, but I get smarter as well.
