There are some awesome groups listed 🙁:|
RIP.
Especially when one of those groups hacked one of my company's computers and setup up an FTP with warez. It was only up for 2 days when the guy who was in charge of the computer discovered it was
hacked and took it down.
LOL WTF
😕?
The biggest LOLWTF is the fact the computer was setup and forgotten about, and the biggest WTF was it was running Windows 2000 Beta. This thing when we shut it down had 2000+ days of uptime. It was setup as test machine for our Win2k rollout.
just fyi: the groups that got busted don't hack servers. release groups have their own way of doing things with people who are willing to accommodate them on high-speed boxes -- which is what you would have read if you checked the web pages listed above. fxp groups (mostly run off vbb bulletin boards) are the ones who hacked your box. they are not the people who are being targeted right now and in a sense are much harder to find.
i've had to fix many hacked machines as a previous security admin at the university i attended. we also set up a totally unprotected honeypot, and within 4 days, it was hacked. kind of fun, actually.
