All you networking gurus, i need some advice

my buddy here in the dorm has one of those ibm netvista pos integrated computers. anyways he can't get onto the internet or our lan. i went to winipcfg and he doesn't have a gateway or the proper subnet mask for his "integrated ethernet adapter" when i try to remove the device to let the driver reinstall, it wants all sorts of files fron the novell installation disk. i need to know how to dump his tcp/ip stack and if this will fix the problem, thanx.

The way I've done it in the past is to remove networking compants from the Windows Add/Remove software tab. Then, I reinstall it.
