Update 8/6:
Well our business filer came back saying the name is taken. Hence our label design has to change, hence our shipment is delayed...Jeans itself will be ready this month, but the label stitching will be delayed until we get a new one.

Anyone have any new ideas? Partners prefer Italian/French themed name.

BTW we already have a large customer lined up. Some chain retailer in the midwest.

Update 7/18:
We're going with Traffic. However, this can change. First shipment to arrive mid-August.

I'm sick of $200-$300 "stylish" non-plain premium wash jeans so I'm starting a jean company with a few others. I need some name ideas. Target pricing is >50% less than the premium brand name jeans out there with good quality materials and same hot washes/designs (MSRP around $25-80; wholesale price ~$10). Initial target will be for women. Mens later if successful. Any ideas?

Also, if any of you guys do logo design, let me know and so that I may use you guys for the logo design once we set the company up (and web design maybe).

EDIT: The design and wash will be comparable to the premium jean brands, without costing your left nut.

That's just scratching the surface.
Good luck to you though, small businesses can be fairly lucrative.

1. Yes. Partner #1 and #2 has been in the fashion/garment business for 20 years. My side has been in the biz for 15 years. P#1 also already has his own line of women's clothing (non-jeans). P#2 has his own distribution co. We have our own retail stores.
2. Yes. We have a manufacturer lined up for the pricing we want. Partner #1 is also a manufacturer.
3. Yes. We have a distribution line that's been established through 15 years of business (through partner #2).
4. No need for marketing campaign. We are not planning on going national in the initial stage.
5. Yes. We have massive bankroll. $500k is just the initial startup costs. We're not going to pour $2 million only to find the jeans are wack.

We actually have the distribution channel lined up. Retailers are always complaining about the lack of low cost current fashion jeans so we saw this as an arbitrage situation. We have the design for the jeans ready...now all we need is a label to base our signature back pocket threading on. No ad capital required...for now.

At first we were going to go with Gasoline Jeans, but apparently there's already a clothing brand named Gasoline. Here's what we have so far (took out the spanish/italian):

It only takes $500k to get the initial order in. Also, the company will not be in direct competition with Levi's or RL; the design will be more in line with premium jeans like 7, paper denim and true religion. All you need is a distribution channel (which we already have).

Yea, not exactly competing with Rustler, Wrangler, etc. More like "high fashion" at Ross prices.

I'm along the same thought as others. Older cheap jeans (20-40) are the best. Last longer, put up with more crap. That, and if they rip, they're only 20-40.

I'm up for trying (and failing miserably) at logo design if you advance to that stage of the procedure.

Good luck with it.

The majority of people on this board prob aren't in your demographic :p I don't like the Italian names unless you actually have a designer with the same name...

Exactly. The whole name list is pretty weak IMO. Doesn't any of you have a cool last name?

Dont go with "Gasoline" since that'll make your jeans sound like a cheap version of Diesel. And I'm not a big fan of the Italian names either but whatever.

Sinistar/Sinister is kind of creative. If you wanna go with like a darker theme then how about something like "dystopia" although im not sure if your target demographic will even know what that word is.

Another thing to think of, if you're trying to make $200 jeans and sell them at $80, you might end up in the middle of nowhere since even though your jeans might be worth $200, the people that actually do pay for your clothes will see it as a cheap version of what they usually buy and shy away. While the peope that usually pay around $40-50 for jeans will find yours to still be too expensive.

Also being so small at this point, it's feasible to have such low prices while maintaining the high quality that you're going for?
