I don't think you can buy from their website and I think you have to buy from one of the locations that are closing.

I bought premium cause I wanted Media Center. Look at the comparision chart and see what you need and dont need.

Anybody know if any our available at the Brighton, MA or Woburn, MA stores?

Woburn had about 5 ultimate and business, and a whole lot of Home Premium in stock at 40% off.

I recently bought a new laptop with xp pro and it came with a free upgrade to vista business 32 bit dvd. do you think i can upgrade from vista biz to ultimate?

according to ms, it will cost $140 but does'nt say anything about a vista biz upgrade being eligible to be upgraded to ultimate.

Finally picked up the Ultimate Upgrade version for $155 in Grand Rapids, MI. It was the Service Desk Version but it seems exactly the same except for a different box.

Thanks. I actually picked-up the Vista Ultimate Upgrade at the Brighton store lastnight.

do you guys think the price of these will drop after 6~12 months? more than 40%? I don't see much momentum in popularity yet, don't want to get it unless necessary.

Since all the compusa stores will be closed by then I don't think so. How often do you see the price drop on MS software?

Since the price of Windows XP has remained relatively steady as long as I can remember (even now), I don't expect you will ever see real steep discounts on Vista even a year or two from now. Until there's a commercially viable competitor to Microsoft in the X86 desktop operating system market there's no reason for them to cut prices.

Doesn't work.

I agree. I don't think one will be able to find the products at a lower price than this in the near future.

I picked up a Vista Home Premium full version 32bit for $143 plus tax today in edison nj.

not a bad deal.

not bad. I think I had paid $200 when it was 10% off there.

by the way, for those of you who don't know... if you need the 64bit version but compusa is only carrying 32bit you can always order the 64bit version from microsoft for $10 more. The store that I bought mine from only had 32bit version so I ended up ordering the 64bit from MS.

I scored a Ultimate Upgrade edition in Woburn, MA. They only had 1 left, but they had a lot of Home Premium Upgrade and Full. Then I went up to Danvers and they had a lot of every edition.

They had so many in Danvers I almost wished I'd waited until they went to 50% off, but it was too late so...

*shrugs*

The San Jose, CA store had tons of Home Basic and a few Business editions, but no Home Premium or Ultimate. 🙁

Local St Louis, MO has Ultimate, Home Basic and Premium for both upgrade or full.
The local store manager whom I spoke to revealed that all remaining Compusa stores (ones that are still open as normal operation) will eventually fall within 6 months.

bummer, the store closest to me is not on the current closing list. Would like to pick up a copy of this with this kind of discount.
