I was at compusa and saw that they had Vists for 40% off list price. They had a lot of copies while I was there. I'm not sure if this is national. I made my purchase at the bloomington MN compusa.

update: now at least 50% off.

I was holding out for this at the Glen Burnie MD location but all the copies of Vistas disappeared weeks ago when the discount was only 10%.

Oh wow nice....

May have to pick one up, although I'm not sure if my location has any. When I went in a few weeks after the closing announcement they pulled all the Vista copies along with any signs of XBox360 and PS3.

Don't forget to just get upgrade versions as they can be used as the FULL version.

Also, don't forget to get two copies of Home Office Premium with purchase of Ultimate.
$49.99/ea from Microsoft website.

They only have Vista Ultimate Upgrade and with 40% off it's $155 + tax. I posted about this a couple days ago in the official CompUSA closing thread. They even gave me a "signature" edition because they're supposed to clear them out first the guy told the other guy.

What does signature give you.....other than the signature?

Well, I figure maybe $5-10 more if you resell it. I just need it to be able to install Home Premium 64-bit for which I already have a key (but I also only have the 32 bit disk) and will be selling it after. If the "signature" covers my Ebay fees I'll be happy.

Yes and yes but you have to buy the additional keys at the MS website.

Just to clarify, the upgrade version is identical to the full retail provided you have a legit copy/key of WinXP ya? Only difference is the installer which will ask you for your XP key? I'd like to do clean installs but I don't want to install Vista over XP or have to install XP before Vista every time I do a clean Vista install. TIA, nice deal I'll probably snag the 2 extra keys and give them to the siblings as early X-mas gifts.

Another question - the Upgrade editions come only as 32 or 64bit while the full editions have both versions?

Once again thanks for bringing up this great deal. Picked up a copy of Vista Ultimate Upgrade for $155.99+tax and I'll be adding the 2 Home Premiums from the MS site.

They had a lot of other versions also: Upgrades for Home Basic, Premium, Office, and Ultimate. Full versions of Home Basic, Premium, and Office. The Upgrade prices for Home Basic and Premium were really compelling....$59.99+tax for Basic and $83.99+tax for Premium.

I only really need Home Premium but neither the Full or Upgrade versions they had include the 64-bit disc, so I didn't want to deal with getting that from MS (probably costs another $20) and I wanted to get the 2 extra keys anyways. I'm pretty sure you can get Home Premium versions with the 64-bit install disc, they just didn't have any.

They also had "Service Desk" versions which were the same as the Upgrade versions as far as I could tell, just with a smaller box. If your CompUSA only has these left I'd make sure they're the same as the retail and not the OEM. I think there's some difference in how many times you can re-ctivate the retail vs. OEM keys but I'm not 100% sure on that.
