I've been at college for the past few months, and I've been jamming away on my cheap (although decent) acoustic there. Since I've gotten home, I've had the chance to play on a decent acoustic, my brother's stratocaster, and my dad's Heritage. And my god there's a difference. I love the sound of the Heritage - it just sounds so full and it has a nice "crunch" to it. I plugged in a nice amp and an equalizer to the Heritage and it's just beautiful. I've made a definite improvement in my playing, and I now have a good enough ear to recognize the difference between guitars. It's a good feeling.

Thanks for reading blog.anandtech.com.

Edit: We need a music forum.

Preaching to the chior. I thought I sucked and had no idea how people made those beautiful sounds out of a guitar when I first started.

It turned out that the neck on my Ovation Celebrity was warped, making everything sound out of tune. When I got a Martin D-15, everything changed. I realized it wasn't me, it was a bad instrument. 15 years later I still look back on that day and am glad I realized my mistake before it was too late (I almost quit).
