My league just does overall scoring instead of head to head. It's much nicer that way. Sort of balances things out a little bit better when you have a player underperform or miss a game on a last minute injury call. You don't worry about losing a head to head that week and killing a playoff run or a championship because one player sucked it up.

Or those weeks where you have like 5 starters all conveniently on a bye. D'oh!

I'm not a fan of overall scoring for football.
The first year we did FF, we did overall, this was also "The Year of Manning," and McNabb was also great that year. Our scoring, mistakenly, heavily favored QBs, even though Manning was the top performer in any league that year.

well, one guy drafted both Manning and McNabb, and we had 2 starting QB slots. He won week one and never looked back.

Head-to-Head is more realistic, imo. and it's a bit more fun. hell, the top 4 seeds entering our playoffs last year lost out in the first round. I won championship, and I think I entered as the 6th seed 🙂 (thank you late-season pickup of Graham and Warner 😉)

The big problem, of course, is that the championship game coincides with the final regular season game....when all your top players are benched in RL to prepare for real playoffs.
Of course, you can work around this by being smart and picking up backups or making deals, waiver pick-ups for teams on the bubble.

That is my week 4.....I am still trying to figure out what to do😉

Anyone have any opinions for me starting Harrison vs Gonzales from Indy?

Everyone is praising Harrison and advising as a #2 receiver, but Gonzales got pretty much all the throws last game....

We're in a keeper league that plays for money ($500 pot) and charge for any player movements (it costs you to play the waiver defense every week). Between the keeper aspect and waiver costs, it makes us very draft oriented instead of matchup oriented. Plus none of us want to lose out because of some fluke week.

With overall formats though, injuries are much worse to key players. In head to head you can still win with your best guy being out if the other guy underperforms too. Not the case for us. Lose a stud RB or WR and it's hard to make up those points the rest of the year.

Gonzoles was getting a lot of looks that would otherwise go to Dallas Clark.

HArrison is just waiting to bust out.....be patient....but I do not see him doing that until another week.

12 man league...I picked 3rd

Sooooo...how did i do?

You did good! Rivers has a 6/1 td-int ratio so far. averaging 9.9 yards per attempt. Around a 122 passer rating. Fred Taylor is a beast. Well done with the backups too. Your bench is as good as, if not better than, most peoples starting fantasy lineups. Just one question:how many people in the draft?

Thanks for noticing my kick ass team, nobody else responded 🙁

There were 12 people in the draft, and it was done entirely with other members of this message board.

I am very happy with my team so far! I hope they continue their production throughout the year.

I've been benching Cutler in favor of Peyton Manning and I paid for it in Week 2. In Week 3 Jacksonville has been pretty solid against pass except Manning has a history of owning their defenses. New Orleans can't defend against the pass and Cutler may have another huge game coming. Decisions. Decisions. Either way, Manning gets his bye in Week4 and I'm debating trading one of them off so I can pick up a solid running back. This is my team as it stands:

QB P Manning
WR S Holmes
WR R White
RB M Lynch
RB D McFadden
W/R D Patten
TE C Cooley
K M Prater
Def Seattle

Bench:

D Stallworth
B Berrian
K Curtis
J Cutler
J Norwood
San Diego Def

12 Team league

LOL....last nights eagles and cowboys upped my points. Between the Dallas defense, Witten, and Westbrook, I got 43 points (more than half my points)....but I still managed to lose by 7 points (he had Romo for 21 points). Oh well.....next time i will pay more attention when I sit a QB that is facing the Rams.

Running back advice:

Here's my team (starters are in bold)

QB:
Derek Anderson
Brady Quinn

WR:
Randy Moss
Brandon Marshall
DJ Hackett
David Patten -----Flex position
Ronald Curry
Chansi Stuckey

TE:
Dallas Clark
Donald Lee

Kicker:
John Kasay

Defense:
Seattle

My flex this week will be David Patten. In the past two weeks, I've started Ricky Williams as one of my starting RB's. This week, I dont think I will play him at all, and I'll start Pierre Thomas over him. What do you guys think of this? Is Ricky Williams worth starting...does he have potential? Should I swap him for David Patten in my flex position?

I am thinking about picking up Williams on waivers.....but with that o line.....I don't know. He is gonna get crushed against NE, unless they begin to tire out early.

I've got Rinnie Brown and have pretty much decided he's worthless. The Fins front line is mucho terrible, no running back is going to do well there.

I just cant afford to start him anymore. Pierre Thomas has had a TD in every game so far. Williams has been horrible. Moss didn't do anything for me last week either, but he's a must start every week.

That blows, but shame on you for even having a receiver from Baltimore. I at least hope it's Mason.

I picked up demetrius williams last year thinking it would be his year to blow up...🙁

Joe Flacco is available in my league, but Im not a believer in Flacco and the Baltimore offense yet. Statistically, we played good offense in week 1. but 1 TD came from a reverse, and the other came from a 40yd run from Flacco, neither of which will ever happen again.

Moss went from a potential 20 + points every game to a 12 pts at best every game. That's still good, though, but NE is gonna run the ball more now to take pressure off Cassel and to use the clock to their advantage.

My next opponent has TO and Moss. How the league let that happen, I have no idea.

QB Advice:

Manning vs Jags
or Cutler vs Saints

Cutler is having a great season, against crappy teams, and he's against the Saints who aren't known for their pass defense and not showing any signs of improving this year.
Jags are good against the pass but Manning has a history of dominating them. I don' t know if his cranky knee would hold up.

I would start Cutler. I'm not sure Manning has fully recovered mentally from his surgery yet. He hasn't looked good in his two starts this year.

I'd go with Cutler too, because it seems like he might be putting together a hell of a season.

Edit - I'll probably actually bench Randy Moss this week and see if Cassel will ever start throwing him the rock.
