Ok, so both perform pretty much on par with each other then? Would you consider it an upgrade or downgrade then if I already have the Voodoo5 and slap in the Geforce1 DDR instead? Is the performance difference that noticeable that it would warrant spending $20 for the exchange?
Thing is bro bought the refurbished Geforce1 DDR from Future Shop (Best Buy) and wants to jam the Geforce1 DDR down my throat and into my system, dissing my Voodoo5 at the same timeHe has his own system, why he wants to tinker with mine I haven't a clue. Cheap bastard, if he wanted to gimme an upgrade, at the very least get me a 9700

Actually, the only boads that the Voodoo5 is incompatible with are the original intel-based P4 boards, as they are ONLY 1.8v, as opposed to the universal 1.8/3.3(V5 is 3.3). The vast majority of new motherboards work fine. I've beqeuthed my Voodoo5 to my sister after 2 year stint(replaced with a 9700 baby), I'm running the latest XP unofficial drivers, works like a charm, with every game I've tried. Its even very playable in UT2K3.

NForce boards are a no no too.

No, no, most assuredly no... I had both, first a gf1-pro, then a voodoo5 5500, and I can say, without any doubt, that the only thing a v5 does better is 2d. S, if you want to play diablo 1 forever, go for it. As for 3dfx and compatibility, did any of you actually make any sense of the last couple of driver releases for it? Bugs, bugs, and more bugs. I lived at 3dfxgamers.com for the entire time I had it. Anyone want to buy some slightly used 104 drivers? Last ones I could get. Is the site even up anymore? Last I saw of it, it was a skeleton. I think the voodoo3 was damn near as fast as the 5500, and the 4 doesn't even rate a mention. Who has the ten 6000's?
The worst thing about nvidia buying out 3dfx is that their support and driver staff seemed to have gone over to nvidia, because getting decent drivers out of them is almost impossible too now. After a gf1-pro, gf2gts and a gf4 mx440(leadtek)I have had enough of nvidia. I run a hercules radeonfdx8500le now, and whilst I may not have the worlds best framerate, at least I have stability

Too damn right, I had one, for a week, well actually, the shop had it for a week, I had it for a day. Sound dropouts, crashing in every 3d game, hell, in gunlok, there was a place to walk to, which crashed me everytime, and forced a restart. That was on 3 different vga cards!!
I think nvidia have forgotten what it is all about, just quietly:disgust:
