Have used Antec power supplies for years. Now looking to get a good to top end 600w or so power supply that will support my C2D set up - ANy other hardware, I can sort out the good from the ugly.

Need some help here folks - not looing to spend an arm and a leg - $100 to $130 ish


Must power -

E6600 @ 3.4 - 1.5v
X1900XT PCIe
6 hard drives
2 DVD-R drives
Creative X-Fi
1 200mm fan
4 120mm fans
BigTyphon cooling

You could get a 700w OCZ GameXStream (I think that's what they're called) for 130 list. Great power supply.

The 600W Version runs for around 100 list. That's some good stuff. It's what I'm using in my next build.
 
Good but inexpensive Ehance ENS-0560G, should Froogle for $99~$110.
Silverstone ST60F is the same as the above unit. Enhance builds these for Ss.
The above are 4x12V rail PSUs.

Top tier goods=Corsair 620W. Multi-rail but will load up as one 😉

Do you want a single 12V rail PSU?

At near full load the OCZs and FSP Epsilons (OCZs are based on the Epsilon)..go out of ripple spec.
ATX spec is 120, the above units hit 150+ 😉 I would refuse to consider these units until they test within spec.

Buy a Silverstone 500W Element. There are two to choose from.
Consider an Enhance ENP-5150GH 500W. It will Froogle at < $70.

I'm running an OCZ PowerStream which is an awesome PSU for overclocking. Very stable and completely adjustable voltages to within plus or minus 15%. They discontinued the PowerStream in favor of the GameXStream so I would expect it to be of equal quality.
 
Yup, shouldn't need more than the Enhance 5150GH or the ENS-0560G as mentioned by G-Y if you really think you need it, but the 0560 has very long cables - it's in Enhance's server line (ENS).

If you want the best, hands down, get a pcpower & cooling 500-610w PSU but one will run you back around $150

The antec true power is a great PSU as well as their Neo HE although with the Neo being modular there is some concern with power loss due to the added resistance in the modular plugs and some other issues that could possibly arise with modular PSU's.

Check out this article that tells you a great deal of relevant information regarding PSU's. They also test out a few of the higher end PSU's too.
 
Corsair 650W will be my next PSU purchase. This thing is same as Seasonic PSUs, plus it comes with real nice cables that can be routed anywhere.
 
Based on track record alone it is really hard to recommend anything Antec.
Even the Antec Neo`s which are made by seasonic to Antec`s specification (all the way down to and including the brand of CAPs used) were having CAP issues...albeit not as many issues as former Antec PSU`s!!

btw-- Just because a Antec PSU happens to be rated 80plus does not mean that they have corrected those issues!!

As I said given there dissapointing track record I would have to recommend Silverstone 650 unit!!

Since you want to spend $100 -- $130 that price point leaves PC Power & Cooling out of the picture!!


The Silverstone as well as the Corsair 620w will do you just fine!!
