All right, it's down to 2 cars

Topic says it all.
We are now down to 2 solid cars:

Acura TL vs Outback XT LTD

Acura:
Pros:
- luxury
- sporty
- quality
- ride comfort
- holy batman electronics!

Cons:
- I'd hate to spill/drop anything in this car
- I have a baby. Need to haul tons of crap
- Can't take it places like skiing or biking or outdoor photography
- FWD

Outback:
Pros:
- sturdy quality
- ride height: outdoors, here we come
- huge trunk
- turbo!
- AWD

Cons:
- not as refined as Acura
- doesn't present the same impression
- not as much comfort
- not so many electronic widgets and gadgets

What do you guys think?

Your profile lists you as in California. Unless you deal with at least two snowfalls a year over 4 inches, don't waste the money on the subaru and get the acura. However, if making sure that not even God can keep you from the nearest convienience store in the middle of a blizzard, subaru FTW.

I live in PA so I'd prefer the Subaru. I also once owned a subaru and would gladly get another. If I didn't have to deal with snow, I wouldnt consider Subaru.

Audi A6 2.7T ?

- luxury
- sporty
- quality
- ride comfort
- holy batman electronics!
- sturdy quality
- huge trunk
- turbo!
- AWD

I like to go skiing in winter. Currently, we have a beamer, and its' RWD. Freaking nightmare.
Plus, we enjoy going places, which sometimes means going over gravel/badly paved roads. But it doesn't happen _very_ often. Once in a while.
Plus, with Outback I wouldn't think twice about loading it with gear/bikes/skis/whatever. With Acura - I'd dust that car every week 🙂

Yeah, we were looking at that one. Once you put the options on - holy freaking expensive batman!

yeah, thats the problem. If you get a couple year old lease return they are a lot cheaper though, and you can get extended warranty or whatnot.

used is out of the question?

Subaru.....quality car!!!! My parents just bought a forrester and they love it. We live in WI and the all whell drive is amazing right now!!! If you are going to be in any kind of snow and driving near mountain, get the subaru...the ride height does suck in the outback, have you looked at a forrester...not the best looking car, but sure is a good all around car

Not with Audi's. I was looking at used ones, but local dealers are still charging for them like there's no tomorrow. Found a couple of nice ones, but mileage was rather high. Gave up eventually: we'll get one when we can afford one. That's all.

I actually like the ride height in Outback. Otherwise I'd be looking at Legacy GT.
Ocasionally we have to go over some crappy roads. Plus loading/unloading the baby is easier.

I'd say go with the 6-speed TL. The car has comfort written all over the car. It is one badass car for the money. I was quoted without hassling an 05' non-navi for 30500 new. I'm sure I can bring it down even more! Subaru STi here I come though!

Cool. I'll try to get 06 manual 6spd non-navi for 31k. Wish me luck 🙂

out of those 2, I'll go for the TL...if only it was AWD.

as Colt said, can't go wrong with Audi luxury + world famous quattro!

I'd say go for the TL, unless you need the AWD. I'm in the process of getting 6spd TL and I compared the Legacy Spec B and found the TL to win out on everything other than drivetrain. I could use the AWD but I also have a 4WD truck and an STi to drive in poor weather so sacrificing the AWD on one vehicle wasn't a huge deal.

In the end though it comes down to what you like and what will work for you.

Uh, why not a Legacy GT? It doesn't have the plastic body cladding and offroad looking tires like the Outback?

Same engine, same AWD, better looking.

I second this suggestion.

I  my Legacy GT.

Edit: I see you have considered it in another post, NM then.

06 Dodge Ram Mega CAB FTW! It will do anything you ever want, plus, youll ride way higher and make all those little people look up at you and go, holy cow batman. that thing is huge!
