You wonder how the overweight, unshaven people that I usually see whording around the Playstation 2 Kiosks can actually afford to buy one.

Worse, they already have one and they still hang out at the store. Go HOME and play with it (I'm sure they're familiar with that concept, based on their looks).
 
Ok, can anyone do some kind of background check on that www.getaplaystation2.com place? What they say sounds too good to be true, but at the same time, the place looks very reputable. (At least the home page, on which they are featured www.fol.net) Anyways, anyone have the resources to check this place out deeper? Thanks.

I was in a Best Buy yesterday (Thursday) at around noon getting an ink cartridge. I was there just as they brought out a pallet of 20 units that were for sale. They had just then gotten them off of the truck according to the manager. I snagged one and all of the others were gone in less than 10 minutes. So they are getting them in the stores, just very few at a time.

... Oh yeah, Best Buy was in Baltimore, MD.
 
Ok, so this is an interesting story about Best Buy in Cambridge, MA.

So I got up real early this morning to get to Best Buy first this morning, and I did, about 25 people showed up before opening this morning, to discover there were no PS2's. Everyone there swore that there were no PS2's... being pissed off because I waited so long, I went over to the PS2 section to play smuggler's run (such a great game)... I waited there for an hour and a half, with a guy who worked for UPS, who actually delivered the systems last night (or so he claimed) eventually the manager came over to us, and very quietly, offered us PS2's if we promised not to tell anyone they had them. he told us to go to the counter, and they'd give them to us all covered up. Apparently, this is how they prefer to give them out- to the people who look interested in buying games.... They don't like to be swarmed... they only had 12 PS2's in the back, and they knew if they brought them out at opening, people would be pissed because only half of them got them... and half the people who got them would just go back and sell them on egay.
anyway, just thought I'd share my story.
 
Yeah thats the only sad part about them right now... The people who ACTUALLY want one to play, CANT get one. And the people who just want the easy cash get all over them! I think that sucks!

a friend of mine just hooked me up w/ 2 ps2s (1 of them was kind of a backdoor thing). nevertheless, shipments should be in!

Got mine today at Best Buy when it opened. They received 22 last night. I bought a Stormchaser Gamepad and Madden 2001. The sound is excellent when hooked up to my Denon 3300 and my Atlantic Technology 350s....
 
I strongly agree with jgeiger, buy it to sell it. There will always be more in the future to buy for cheaper. Right now it's all about making money. Don't buy one to keep right now, it's much wiser to make a profit right now. Buy one if you can for $300 sell it for $600, save that money to buy it later on plus buy all the games and accessories all at once!

I know, I know, I'm probably gonna get flamed for this seeing as though my post has nothing whatsoever to do with the thread title, I just want someone to find a PS2 location for moi 🙂
 
you guys are all knocking on ps2.. i got one at bestbuy the night it came out and i must say that &quot;SSX&quot; is the best game i've played in a long time.. the graphics are awesome and its so addicting..

Nope, i didn't sell it and try to make a 200% profit.. i just really wanted one..

I think if you go to bestbuy the day they stock up really early in the morning you can pick up one..
 
Yes! It was instock and I snagged one (supposedly)! Thanks!! Anyone know if this games are just like retail? I'd like to return 1 or 2 of em for other games. 🙂

i was about to ask the same question...i think they would have to say if it wasn't. Anyway, what's the chance that a major retailer like walmart would import the japanese version?

well, the us version is manufactured in japan. hey, we could always return it if they try and screw us.
 
Well, it's part of Walmart being an &quot;American Company&quot; where they promote stuff made in the USA. That's all....it's a US model, not JAP.
