Mods I hope that this is not out of line!!!

Post all of your PSX2 deals or stores who actually have them here!!!

I don't know about everyone else, but I am tired of the 50 psx threads everyday. Those of us who are REAL hot deal hunters would not think of shelling out $300 for a game console. Thanks, but I will wait till the lines die, and the price drops to under $200.. Which wont be long.

---

As you know, we have been locking most of the PS2 threads because the frenzy was getting way out of hand. This thread seems like a good place to post valid information about where you may be able to obtain one.

Please keep your posts to verified information. Be careful, because there have already been reported scams on line. Most of all, good luck to all of you who want one. :)

I think that knowing where PS2s are in stock is definitely a hot deal and of interest to many on this forum.

I also think that there have been too many threads about it , and agree with the mods having locked those up.

So, having a uniform thread like this is a good idea. I hope the mods dont lock it up.

"Families On Line, Corporation will place the payment on your credit card as your order is completed for your pre-order. If you wish to cancel your order at any time we will reimburse your credit card for the full amount and the changes should show up on your next banking statement."

Uh... charging may card 6 weeks before shipment? *sniffs* I think I smell fish.

also, sony has announced their policy on who will get units....

Sony has told retailers how the next shipments of PlayStation 2's will be distributed, and it has nothing to do with spreading them out equally or fulfilling outstanding pre-orders in the order in which they were made. According to KB Toys, supplies of PS2's are still so limited, they will be first sent to retailers who "prove themselves" by selling plenty of other PlayStation/PlayStation 2-related goods. That's right. Even if you have an unfulfilled pre-order, your store may not be next in line to get more systems. The retailers who sell the most for Sony, will get the most from Sony, according to a KB Toys spokesperson.

so I don't think that FOL is going to be getting any.... or not enough

Some KB Toys may still have an open spot on their guaranteed before XMas list (not likely but worth a try). We got in on the last slot at the one near our house last week. They are expecting the next shipment to arrive 11/10. I felt sick when the Toys R Us near us said they didn't sell their last unit until 6pm the day they came out, I didn't even think of checking there thinking they would have been sold out for sure early in the morning.

So in other words...the more a retailer can sell "BUNDLED CRAP," the more PS2's will go to that retailer. That is a bunch of crap. I hope Sony rots in hell for trying to make us buy crap we don't need.

That is pretty low. I think I may stick with my Dreamcast until the Xbox shows up--then I'll think about diving into the consoles again.

That policy actually makes sense. Sony loses about $100 on every PS2 sold. All the profit comes from the "bundle".

Sony isn't in the "make people happy" business, it's in the "make lots of money" business.

For those of you that let themselves be manipulated by Sony into a desperate buying frenzy for one of these PS2 stations should take a step back and look at yourselves. Life is about more than just searching from morning till night for a PS2 station and video games. Don't let yourselves be manipulated by Sony. I say we boycott Sony, and let their attempt of manipulating us backfire.

Thats to bad people are looking for PS2. I just took mine back to frys it was so bad. Yes im using my first post on here to put the PS2 down. I spent around 600 on the thing, extra cords, games. What a mistake. I could have had this thing a year ago, just got a dvd player for 150 and a dreamcast for 150. add some glue, wa la. A dvd player thats not jacked up. And a system with some games that don't look like they were made with a etch a sketch. I think Sony found out naming their chips EMOTION and crap like that wouldn't cut it, so they created phoney demand so their stock wouldn't crash, at least more than it already has.

Just to let you all know, Sony will be releasing 100,000 units EVERY WEEK between now and Christmas which results in 1.3 million units, a LOT more than the 500,000 originally thought. Bestbuy stores either put them on their shelves at 9 am this morning or they will be doing so tomorrow morning. The employees aren't supposed to tell people when they are putting them out, but one accidentally slipped that it is either today or tomorrow.

The whole point is, 1.3 million units is PLENTY to fulfill the demand. Just be patient, go to your local stores when they open up on various days, and you might get lucky once. With over a million being available before Christmas, your chances are pretty good ;) BTW, that is an official press release, you can read it on sony's website.

I was reading in NEWSWEEK that it cost SONY $488.00 to make each playstation. Which means they lose almost $200 a unit. Hmmmmmmm ok that explains that Egay id: SONY1 I saw selling 100,000 units no reserve 1 day only !!!!

Not sure if this is valid at all Kaybee locations, but there are offering $500 bundles which includes the console, 1 controller, and your pick of any 3 games in stock. $50 down, guaranteed before Christmas. It's overpriced, but if you absolutely need it before Christmas this is probably your safest bet.

Actually, if the $488 figure is correct then sony is losing alot more than $188. Remember that the $300 price tag includes retailer markup.

hahaha funny that you mentioned retailer markup because from my experiences in retail, the markup for the original playstation was about 10 bucks...if not less. retailers didnt make money on the hardware either. software was marked up about 20% or so.
