All propositions in California were voted no!

Most Californians are blind lemmings following the idots in their government towards the 1000 ft cliff. It isn't going to be pretty when the whole state implodes but at least you won't have to worry about feeling sorry for them since they seem to want to fail.

It must be a potential cause of great harm for those 75% for them to ban it in the constitution.

Damn right, I can proudly say I went and voted for proposition 2.

Why do you take pride in that?

It makees him feel good to oppress people with lifestyles he doesn't approve of.

Hey I am happy it passed. Lets not think everyone here wants gay marriage in this country. Note that this does not mean I hate gays in anyway...

I would go on but such things are better left for P&N, and after my first time posting in there I swore I would never go back

No one said you hated gays...
But a serious question...
Why would you not want gays to marry or have civil unions? When I ask, I ask you, not the general population.

Personally, I would be in favor of civil unions for homosexuals and atheists. Marriage is a sacrament of the church. Most religions don't approve of homosexuals so just eliminate the marriage part. I see nothing wrong with civil unions for gays and athiests...let them deal with divorce too. 😉

segregation, antimisegination laws, and slavery were around for a long time because people were proud of their bigotry. so yes, he can be proud of it. it just makes him a complete moron.

and yes the props went down in flames. many voted no across the board like me... as a protest against an unecessary wasteful election. also as a protest against arnold. theres reform, and then theres stupid ideas. this was all stupid.

Because I believe in a certain sanctity of marriage and believe that being gay is wrong. This stems from my Christian beliefs. I do not hate anybody, I know a good number of gay people and don't wish hell upon them, I am not crazy like that. I just wish they would change their ways that I view as wrong.

Nakedfrog: I obviously don't hate african americans either but I don't support affirmative action. Its along the same lines. I respect your opinion, but I just disagree. No big deal.

Granted, I'm not a California resident/voter and I don't care about Arnold one way or the other but what I read of the Props seemed quite reasonable and sensible.

Exactly why there should be a seperation/distinction between marriage and civil unions. Both can recieve the legal benefits but marriage is blessed by the church. Personally, I don't care who you slam your d!ck into, but everyone should have equal protection under the law.

at first glance some always do. but look at them closer and you'll notice many propositions are fundamentally dishonest. like the one attacking unions. as if unions are the number one special interest group with the deepest pockets... when the reality is corporations dwarf union contributions to politicians. so why attack the little guy first if you are honest about reform? its just a rather dispicable underhanded way to cripple unions to increase corporate power. want a honest fair minded reform? ban or limit all corporations/unions. but they won't..and the governor is too spineless to try.

that kinda bullsh8t is just never ending with propositions.

and the reason bullsh*t propositions are all over the place is because of how broken the laws on propositions are. it takes very little money to get a proposition on the ballot these days, with the numbers of signatures required being low, and paid signature gatherers being allowed. so you get extremist twits trying to sneak things through.

Yeah, that's it.

Actually, it's now more likely that those people he's "oppressing" will now move to California, where they will vote no on all special election propositions. 😉

I live in Texas, and honestly don't care what gay folks want to do. I've been around the world a few too many times to be bothered with them; as long as they're leaving me alone, I'll leave them alone. I can't say that I agree with their lifestyle choice, but it doesn't surprise me that this amendment went through. It also won't surprise me that all the liberal types in the country will look down upon Texans for speaking their minds, and telling the world that that specific lifestyle is not welcome here. If you don't like it, please feel free to choose from one of the other 49 states (and three territories!!) that form this country. I'm sure you'll find someone willing to let you do whatever you want.

Yeah, it just comes across as a little sadistic to me, to express happiness at the passing of the amendment. Just my opinion, of course.

You WANT the state to go FURTHER into long-term debt???!!!

I would rather force the wastefull spending to stop!

I agree. What was that old saying, " You need to spend money to make money? Galvanize the system?". This doesn't hold true when your city is already Mariana Trench-deep in the red.

Show me that you can stop wasteful spending and do it, then the people will consider a proposal.

Well prop 2 makes that illegal. Well, it was illegal in Texas to begin with, but not it's in the constitution.

Being homosexual is nothing more than being homosexual. Wrong or Right.
Voting to ban gay marriage and amending the constitution will not make homosexuals go away. It won't protect anything.
This is something you have to come to terms with within yourself.
The problem does not lie within the homosexual community.

You know what I have found in my 24 years of living? Morality and beliefs change with life experiences. What is acceptable changes with the understanding that you gain as you grow.
I wonder why that is.

Wow. This would have been the most cliche paragraph ever if you would have used "sheep" or "sheeple" in there.

I've read this same type of comment posted about texans, democrats, repubs, liberals, conservatives, etc...

Maybe it's applicable to everybody. Sad, I wonder what happened to taking in perspectives, digesting information... pondering, questioning... and then reevaluating conclusions. Not really happening anymore.

Edit: Oh I finally got it Ronstang, sarcasm meter's a bit slow today.😀

From the little I read in the article, it seems like every single one of those measures was a good idea...

Well, I voted Yes on everything even tough I'm not sure they would or wouldn't actually make anything better. But all the ads and the hundreds if millions of special interest dollars were supporitng No and that was a good enough reason for me.

I would move out of Cali (I can't stand all the extreme liberals - read: HIPPIES) but I'm going to college here.

Although I can honestly say I did not vote, The way the right and left were talking about each others' propositions it was like 'theirs will cause cancer and ours will bring world peace' and bs like that. Why can't politicians just be honest :\.

I'd move, but no place else in the country is prettier.

Would be a lot of fun paying cash for a house in another state and having something left over with the equity we have in our house.

Wow...you bought the negative attack ads hook, line and sinker...sponsored by the very special interests Arnold was hoping to keep in check.

Might as well change your screen name avatar to that of a sheep.

I've got an idea that would improve California, and the US in general. They just need to kill all lobbyists. That way all the short-sighted, can't-see-the-forest-for-the-trees people who care so much about their tiny interest group that they drag the entire state and country down the sewer, would be GONE.
