anybody ever buy from here?

I've been browsing for the last 1/2hr and it seems too good to be true

plenty of stuff I'd buy at $6 shipped....

edit: hmmm.... i guess i read right over the "subscription" aspect... I'll bookmark it for someday -- too tired to read the fine print.

BMG (www.bmgmusic.com) is the company that does the 12 CDs for the price of one(overinflated) CD... blah blah blah. If you do it right average price works out to about $6-7 a disc with the shipping.
Looks like they just averaged it out for you.
It is probably legit, but read the fine print to make sure they don't have the option to your firstborn.

Just relooked it...
You have to subscribe at $5.99 at month, you get one CD a month from your list and the option to buy more.

Remember, your credit card will be charged $5.99 each month, even if you do not have a CD in your Music Queue.

I use this all the time. I have been subscribed for a year and have like 50 CDs in my queue, so I just get one sent to me each much for $6 + tax.

They also have great deals on box sets ($6/disc), which I buy occasionally. It's pretty nice.

I tried the BMG 12 for 1 offer, and it ended up costing me about $50 for 12, which makes it somewhat cheaper than this site, but then on the other hand you have to buy a lot at once.

I've been getting a monthly CD from yourmusic.com for a few months. It's actually straightforward and I'm quite happy with it.

I signed up for emusic.com (DRM-free MP3's of non-major-labels) earlier this month. Between these two, which overlap very little, I project my $12-ish CD purchases to be pretty few and far between. Of course, it totally depends on what music you want (actually, what you want at the available prices); I imagine a lot of people will find yourmusic.com's selection fairly limiting and basically zero on emusic.com.

Make sure they have several CDs you would like to buy, register, buy those CDs immediately, and cancel your "membership". I did this earlier this year (or last year - search Hot Deals archive for a thread). Very easy and great for multi-disk sets.

I use this site too. Never had a problem, and in a week I get Iron Maiden's "Number of the Beast" album, last CD from Iron Maiden I need to stand in for my vinyl records. It's great and music is actually affordable.

I've actually used these guys for the last 4 or 5 months now. I thought I would just order a couple and cancel, but I've actually enjoyed getting something different every month. Since they don't cost much, you can try out some things you probably wouldn't have bought otherwise. You'll find lots of classic CDs (The Clash, The Smiths... other good bands with The at the beginning of the title), and a pretty good variety of new music. What you won't find is music from more indepent labels. It seems to be primarily RIAA members represented here (no big surprise, given that it's owned by BMG). The only other caveat is that it takes them quite a while to actually ship the CDs out to you. They don't actually process the order for about 72 hours after you make it (or after the day of the month that you get your music sent to you), and then it still takes a couple days in shipping. As long as you don't mind those couple of things, it's a pretty sweet deal--everything I've gotten has been in perfect condition.

Sounds like a good deal. I use zooba's for books which seems to be very similar to this (but for books obv). Thanks!

Thanks for mentioning zooba. I just looked it up and it looks like something I'll try, if only for 2-3 books.

They've got a lot of Hybrid Super Audio CDs (SACD) in their catalog for the same 5.99 price. This is getting me interested. AFAIK, there is no way to play the SACD layer on a computer -- only some DVD players and audiophile eqpt will play it, right? I'm assuming the CDA layer will play on computers like it does on regular CD players? Maybe I should post this on one of the technical forums. I'm also interested in DVD-A vs SACD info.

Good looking on that Zoomba site. I'm signed up with BMG, and I usually buy 5 or 6 cd's at a time when they have a 70% sale, or 55% off w/ free shipping. It's a good deal if you take advantage of their good sales. I'll definitely checkout these two sites though.

Are you sure? I have been a happy member for six months and I never found a SACD or DVD-A in their catalogue.

Cool :), too bad that so far I didn't find there a SACD that I like. $5.99 for a SACD is a steal :D!

The Stevie Ray Vaughan and Albert King SACD is EXCELLENT. This is a great service. I've been a member for over 6 months. Free shipping takes about 3-5 days. Most of the SACD's are originals (are NOT branded 'bmg') except for the Elton John Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

To find most of the SACD's just do a search for ALBUM TITLE: HYBRID
Do the same thing for DualDisc and DVD and CD/DVD
