All In Wonder TV looks a little grainy

I've had an ATI All-In-Wonder 9700 Pro for awhile, but never got around to playing with the TV functionality of the card until just recently. I've got standard cable plugged into the card via coax straight from the wall outlet. The quality of the TV picture looks a little grainy, certainly not bad, but not crystal clear either. Is this normal? Is a monitor's resolution so high that TV images always look a little grainy on them? I've also tried hooking up a VCR and playing back a movie on VHS into the AIW, and the picture quality looks the same... which would lead me to believe that it's not poor cable reception or anything like that.

Normal yes it's high resolution monitor used to watch low res tv equals grainy picture. Usually the higher channels are less grainy than the lower ones.

ur monitor is essentially a HDTV screen. Normal TV's, (non-HD), used to be made so poorly, that they actually made the signal look better. But now, with HDTV, and computer monitors serving as screens, the poor image quality is now exposed.

So what's the answer? Only way to get crystal clear TV is to pipe the output from a HDTV receiver into the All-In-Wonder card?

Don't sit close to the monitor. Your just seeing all the errors in the signal that a normal television doesn't pick up.
