All in one cooking seasoning?

Nocturnal

Lifer
I was watching the Today Show this morning and I heard Giada mention that she uses an all in one seasoning instead of having several single bottles.

Does anyone recall what that was? Thanks guys 🙂

Or if you know of any other great all in one seasonings that are good for everyday cooking, I'd really appreciate it.

pleaes dont look for anything of that sort. not being facetious or anything. there are only a few essential herbs and spices that you need to keep stocked. try to get them in small quantities to keep them fresh

Salt and pepper are the only seasonings I use for almost everything I cook. Even those I wouldn't want in fixed amounts, as in an all-in-one.

I used to use that too but I have high blood pressure and have to watch my salt intake so I try to go for other herbs and spices that won't spike my sodium levels.

The "almighty" trio that works for most things: Salt, pepper and garlic powder.
what she uses... i have not noticed anything constant that she uses, at least on her show.

I agree. Don't even bother. Who cares what Giada says. The fact that she even says bottles is suspect. Anyone who has cooked with any herbs knows how profound the difference is between fresh and bottled.

Even if you still insist on going with the little spice bottles, I would still disagree with what she said. Sometimes you like to change the ratio of certain herbs or spices, and having a blend doesn't give you that opportunity.

Buy fresh herbs and spices, learn the flavor of all of them and learn how to use them properly. It's easy to keep fresh herbs, and you can buy them fresh these days for ~$1. They can keep for 2 weeks if you're careful.

Salt as a seasoning isn't bad, it's really all the salt used in processed foods as a preservative and flavor enhancer (bring out sweetness). I sprinkle a little sea salt on meat and eggs.

I go through like 3 bottles of garlic powder a month. Love that stuff 🙂 (fresh garlic is better whenever possible)
