EE , 1994 NCSU
Worked for Cray, GE, RCA, but made a switch to 3d and CGI in 1998.
Pays less but its what I always wanted to do and much happier, so that is all that matters to me.
I still do EE stuff as a hobby .

My biggest gripe while working as an EE was marketing and finance. I got fed up with having to make too many comprises on designs that were excellent just so marketing could make a buck. Hated signing off on designs that were not as good as they should have been.

Most aerospace engineers are OLD. The average age in my turbine engines design group is 50+. They all hired on in the 60's and 70's when the cold war was going on, and the post cold war economy didn't need many more so they didn't hire many. Now this wave of people is approaching retirement and they don't have anybody to replace them. In the next 5-10 years you could move up pretty quickly.

One word: India.

two words: US Citizen.

don't be surprised if lots of those DoD-related positions want or require US citizens.

They all do. While I don't really touch anything that requires a security clearance right now I still can't give any information about the engines or show any pictures of them to anyone that isn't a US citizen. Most of our design knowledge, even for civilian aircraft has severe restrictions on exportation. It's quite a bit more secure that most other industries. While some will get shipped out for sure a large chunk needs to stay here.
 
Graduated as an EE with Engineering Management minor in 08 from University of the Pacific.
Currently working at CDM as an Junior level I&C engineer.
