Im thinking of making a home-made sub-woofer with an old reciever and speaker.

I plan on hooking it up with a single rca cable from the SUB-OUT on my yamaha reciever and then from there to the AUX-IN on the old reciever. Now the only thing im concerned with is could this harm my yamaha reciever in anyway?

thanks..

I am confused. Why are you running it into another receiver?

it would NEVER harm your yamaha, but the sub probably wouldn't get enough power, so it won't sound very good.
You could give it a try though.
I would just for the sake of knowing.

Having said that, I have a tiny AT power supply feeding power to my jensen car amp, which is *trying* to push my 10inch Orion XTR in the corner of my room.
Not only does the amp's light fade more than kelsey grammer's hairline, but the PS turns off when I bridge the amp.
My SB Live Value feeding the amp the signal is fine :)

You should be fine......there was a post in here just yesterday about making your own home subs. He's using the old receiver to power the sub since it doesn't have it's own amp, I'm guessing. Buying an amp adds another 100+ to the overall cost, so it's worth it to just use an receiver that's laying around.

Good luck, I considered making one as well, but I'll probably just be buying one I just found.
