So. We've been going to this greasy spoon breakfast place for the past month or so and it's a great little place. A coworker of my dads introduced us to the place. For those in Vancouver you may already know of it, it's called Bon's off Broadway. Why is it good? Well it's certainly not because it's classy, nor is it because the food is amazing (though it's good). It's because it's really cheap and it has a one of a kind ambiance. Think crack house + hippy dive + greasy spoon breakfast and you get the idea, minus most of the crack house. There is graffiti all over the walls, movie posters up all over the place and it's almost always packed with young people. Anyway here are some pics:

And some pics of the washroom just because. The restaurant actually looks much better than the washroom and the food is good:

This is one of the pull down towels I was talking about in another thread. Only this one is really fucked up. Usually it's working when I use it:

No pics of the food?

Yeah it was really busy today and the service was slow so lots of tables didn't have their food. I don't recommend going there on a weekend as there is always a long lineup to even get seated. Anyway it's all day breakfast I'll leave the rest to your imagination. You know bacon, eggs, ham, toast, pancakes, sandwiches, burgers, fries, bottomless coffee, bottomless coke, etc...

is the food actually good or is it just a place for hipsters and wannabee punks/skinheads to hang out?

though, if it's cheap, like really cheap, that's fine.

There is this place in Chicago called Anne Sathers--for some reason, it is extremely popular for Sat/Sun brunch. People go because they think it is fine/fancy or quality food. No idea why, but it is all Ikea food with Ikea food names, and ridiculous prices on top of that. It looks a wee bit hip inside, so maybe that's it--I don't know. The odd thing is that it's in the gayborhood (2 of them are, actually), so you'd expect those in the area to have better taste. Actually, it seems like a bunch of Lincoln Park clientele that keep them in business...which explains a lot.

Your post led me to believe that you underwent the following thought process:

Gays have good taste in sexual organs
Gays prefer restaurant X
Therefore, assuming taste in sexual organs and food are linked, restaurant X would be expected to taste good

Not to accuse you of making illogical conclusions or baseless assumptions, mind you.

All the time, all the time.

you just used the wrong assumptions.

Foods not bad at all. But then it's hard to fuck up this kind of food. Bacon and eggs with toast, club sandwiches, Monte cristo sandwiches, Rubens etc... And yes it's cheap, Bacon & Eggs with toast is something like $4 or so, maybe even a little less. Many of the sandwiches with fries are in the $5-6 range. The coffee and coke are bottomless and all self serve. In fact the coke comes from a bar dispenser behind the counter but they let you just walk up to the bar lean over and grab the dispenser to refill your cup.
