Just kidding (I hope). The US carriers are pretty terrible about updates, AT&T is the best. They rolled out 8.1 in June I think. T-Mobile just rolled it out a couple weeks back (except for the 810 which they completely abandoned a long while back). Verizon is still stuck on 8.0.

I think that's pretty much spot on. My buddy was still waiting for 8.1 on his Icon, and Verizon doesn't even sell it anymore. He got sick of waiting and jumped to a Galaxy S5 instead. Not only are the lack of apps killing them, but their lack of updates are turning away the few customers that bother to give them a try.
