For some reason, I don't get all-channel surround sound with normal stereo sources if I install updated audigy 2 drivers from scratch. If I install the old drivers from the cd first and then update the drivers, then it does work. However, installing any of the creative labs mixer programs also breaks the all-channel surround. How can I manually enable all-channel surround without having to install the old drivers? I did remember to set my speakers to 5.1 in the control panel but there is something else that needs to be done, something that the driver install cd sets up to enable it.

no that's not what I'm talking about. Ugh.

If you install your audigy drivers from the install cd, doing the "drivers only" option, all sounds in windows will play from all the speakers without using any extra software like cmss. But if you install the drivers manually from a downloaded driver package, this doesn't work.

The CD drivers have CMSS on by default. The updated drivers probably turn it off by default.

oh wait I got it to work...apparantly after I set the speaker setting to 5.1 it got set back to 2.0 again. I set it to 5.1 and rebooted and now it works.
