Just got back from the The Original Hotcake and Steak House and the food was grubbin'.

I had the philly steak & cheese omelette with hashbrowns & toast, $6.95

While my wife had the 2 potato cakes with 2 bacon, $5.25

My omelette was delicious but the potato cakes were disappointing since they had mostly pancake batter mixed in.

This would be an ideal spot for a Portland/Eugene/Vancouver/Seattle ATOT gathering.

edit: Well since no one gives a rats ass about my dining experience let's turn this into a Swiss Chalet fanclub thread 😀
 
What do you usually order from there?

I've heard of this "Bob Evans" place in Cleveland, Ohio that supposedly has some really good breakfast.
 
Well, I usually get:

Honey Garlic 1/4 Chicken Dinner (white meat)
- baked potatoe w/ all the fixins
- garlic bread
- chalet sauce

Appetizer size order of Cajun Perogies (mmm)

Diet Coke.

Total is about 15 bucks Canadian with tip.

Kyguy - Really? I've driven by this place for years and have wondered what it's like, well today I found out. Delicious but greasy food.

Swiss Chalet is the best. I wish they had them in the USA... 1/2 chicken dinner with that sauce is GREAT stuff. Hope you had a good dinner. 😀

i love swiss chalet soooooooooo much but i always ALWAYS get sick after eating there.
but everytime someone wants to go out for lunch, i always pick swiss chalet.

i always get either quater or half chicken dinner with fries and a shirly temple.

Oh MY God. Shirley Temples. I had forgotten about those. Used to get those from Swiss Chalet as a kid.

I sincerely doubt I would have the guts to order one now. Maybe I can talk my wife into ordering one, so that I can try it again. You know, for kicks...
 
OMG, the nostagalia (sp?) is coming back. I still remember the butterscotch ice cream I got five years ago while I was a kid. Swiss Chalet butterscotch ice cream is sooo good 🙂
