Mother...

CoD 1 and CoD 2 downloaded fine, then CoD United Offensive crapped out. A 900 MB download became 5 GB for some reason. The thing got stuck at 99% with exactly 1MB left that it kept blipping on. Turns out it might be an error... What the hell was in the 5GB that I downloaded then?

Ya, mine was doing that. COD1 and COD: UO kept flicking between each other so I disabled UO, finished COD 1, and then let COD: UO do its thing... One 'delete content files' and redownload later and 5 GB, I finally just paused it, restarted, paused it, and cancelled it off the download queue, and it didn't try downloading again.

Now it says COD 1 and COD: UO have 1 file fuxxored when I verify integrity. UO runs fine.

Game-wise, holy crap I forgot how much they improved the COD series since the originals. The super scripted, rail-shooter and auto-regen health with constant auto-saving is so much better than the original health pack and self-save thing.

I'm really liking BO2 so far. So much that I might get the season pass while it's 50%.

BO2 is easily the best of the "modern" Call of Duties. Very polished and well-balanced. I enjoyed it enough that I actually caved and bought the season pass, no regrets.

I think the campaign was the best of the bunch, but I felt like it had some of the worst maps of the newer games (with maybe only MW3 being worse).

it's really close quarters heavy

am I the only one that notices how much the graphics have actually improved? Considering these games both have roots as Xbox 360 games, I'd say BO2 is a pretty decent upgrade over MW2 in terms of image quality.

I got the original COD in the box at Gamestop on sale for $5 back in the day. This sale is shameless lol.

The problem with BO2 (& ghosts) multiplayer is that most of the guns are just bullet hoses that require little aiming or skill. There's also hardly anything to distinguish them from one another.

I liked MW2 at the time I played it. Once I played Black Ops and went back, it felt like a piece of garbage. It had great maps, but the sound was terrible, the Perks were terrible (especially Commando), and the knifing physics were possibly the worst of the series.

i like the guns/perks everything about MW2 the best

i feel like you can customize further in any given direction in that game, whether going for stealth, speed, power, etc... MW2 has the most overpowered perks and weapons and i like that heh

Black Ops 2, seems kind of lacking in comparison. there is nothing compared to the TAR-21 with Stopping Power Pro and FMJ for example.

Stopping Power...#2 on the list of things that made me hate the Modern Warfare franchise. It was almost a necessity to take it to be competitive, unless you were legitimately good at the game (I kinda was, and preferred a stealth class with a sniper). It made the M16 capable of killing you in one shot to the lower-half of the leg, which was asinine.

Holy... shit. Just finished the original COD 1. Four whole freaking hours?

Now I remember why I didn't buy it a decade ago. Even the expansion back was 5 hours and felt longer.

Cod has sucked since COD2. Every game since then actively corrals the action and funnels players into each other or behind one another. Too much magical appearing of enemies from behind in all game modes. IMHO.

Have you even played any of the COD's post COD2? It sounds like you haven't.

I don't have or played any of the COD's (yeah newb)......what do you guys recommend to get for $20 or under? (it doesn't have to be COD, but similar type FPS).

Blacklight: Retribution. It's a F2P multiplayer first person shooter that's mechanically identical to CoD, albeit with a few extra features, and it's arguably more fun.

Is this a free to play game (just reading the reviews on metacritic) or have they updated to paying version? (I can't access Steam from work to see this)

Activision is a joke, worse than EA with their pricing.

Honestly if I were the CEO of a video game company this is how I would price games. I almost never buy new games anymore. When you can get game of the year editions for $20 a year or 2 after a game comes out what's the point of ever buying anything new?

Then again, you would think these old multiplayer games would have the opposite strategy. Since noone ever plays them, why not just sell them for cheap? I guess it's to push people to buy the latest iteration instead.
