ALL AX-7 or other Thermalright Owners-- Please Help

I just got my AX-7 Heatsink, I purchased some Antec Silver compund to apply to the base and the core of my Thoroughbred. However, Thermalright included some sort of square pad with the heatsink, what is this for? Can it be used in conjunction with silver compund, thanks.
 
Get rid of the pad and just use the artic silver. The pad is a thermal material that will not work as well as good compound like artic silver.
 
He said it perfectly. They are basically the same thing, only the silver compound is much better. You can't use both together.
