If money is not a concern, look no further. I have a Silver Lian-Li and I would say it was well worth the money. And modding them has not been a problem for me. My rotozip cuts through the aluminum like butter.

i heard that plastic panelling helps absorb internal noise much better than metal. how quiet is the case?

I got the case. It's great and I got it for $175 rather than the $230 that others seem to have paid for it.

I got the case for HK$1050 which works out to be only about US$135. Of course, I bought it from a shop in Hong Kong. You can check out the Hong Kong distributor's web page here:

www.gtr.com.hk

(it's in Chinese, but you'll see the link to the specific case)

Also, regarding the noise cancelling. I have a Delta fan on my CPU and I have compared the noise between having one of the side panel off and having it back on. The difference is huge. I can certainly live with the noise when the side panel is back on the case. When I take the side panel off, even my g/f outside my room said she can hear the fan :)

Man, what I would give to have an aluminum case (i really like the black and silver one)! That day will come ... but as of now ... I'm still waiting =P.
